My brother was blasting some pony tunes. Black Gryph0n came on. I remembered he's going to be at EFNW next year. I got happy! My thoughts shifted to Michelle Creber, since they're pals and stuff. This, logically, leads to Apple Bloom, Michelle's character on MLP. Hence the thought-
For the last couple of years, Chris, of the One Man's Pony Ramblings fanfiction review blog, has invited his audience to submit guest posts to cover the couple weeks he's away on vacation towards the end of summer. Today, my second guest post for him went up. It's available here, and reproduced, with Chris's opening and closing remarks, below.
I'm back from vacation, and here's what happened at my review blog while I was out of town! Some reviewing, some writing advice, some thoughts on the nature of reviewmanship, all courtesy of some very talented folks from around the fandom. Also, this (bi)week we're taking a reader suggestion and adding some bolding to help improve the "eyeflow" of things; I'm not 100% sure what "eyeflow" means, but if it means what I think it means, it's not something I'm very good at, so... hopefully
So, I'm writing this blog post as an extended response to a comment thread I participated in, in which I had the opportunity to think about some things relating to the most recent episode. Warning, the below rambles a lot, and probably doesn't make much sense. If you don't like reading some guy on the internet's random wrong opinion about some episode of a pony show, or nerd rage, or if you're allergic to peanuts,
So I did a short interview awhile ago for Wungiel and some Polish MLP magazine of some sort and here it is!
(I've now been translated into Polish, Japanese, Russian and I think one other foreign language. So why hasn't anyone translated my work into Canadian, huh? Am I not "popular" enough here? Sad. )
Hope everyone's enjoying their Super Bowl Sunday! I'll be heading out for a watching party shortly--incidentally, I learned last year that you've gotta be careful which friends you watch the Super Bowl with. Don't want to hang with the crowd that talks over the whole game and then wants you to shush during the halftime show, of all things.
So at first I was planning on writing a rather long and sarcastic blog post.
Before I get going, I want to thank everyone, again, for reading through. I was honestly not expecting much in the way of reception for an author who has been gone for years, but I was so pleasantly surprised. You guys have chucked my iffy words back into the featured box multiple times over the course of posting, and I don't think any amount of thanks will accurately convey how much that means to me.
Horror Stories are Still Stories
Four pieces of actual advice for writing horror that really should go without saying.
Writing is fun. It can also be hard. But it be easy too. But it can also be not fun.
The point I'm trying to make is, I've been working on the next chapter for a while. I've also been busy with other things. But who cares about that. You guys want more poorly scheduled and inappropriate fan fiction, right? Expect the next chapter soon. Maybe I'll split it so I can get it out sooner.
It is three in the afternoon and I am wandering around with a coffee cup in hand and a robe on. If there’s one thing I can be assured of when it comes to pony conventions, it’s that they always end with my sleep schedule completely out of whack.
Part Two: Baltimore: or “How I Learned to Start Worrying and Loathe the Line."
Hey Guys wassup?? So I've had some glasses of wine to loosen me up for season opener but figured since I'm feeling goood I'd just go and do an drunk post instead to even the edges as it were so then here it is! Hey how's it going with all you few, maybe dozen or less or so people who still pay heed to my silent inactive self? I've been doing great! Freshly-minted wizard here as of a few weeks ago, and I got to climb a mountain for my troubles. Camelback, 1,280 feet, double diamond deifficult
The Imperfect Storm draft took me longer than expected, but eventually, the global pandemic made me realize I had to get it done sooner or later. And so, I'm back on FiMFiction (for a limited time, at least, more about that in a bit), and ready to update my stories!
If you weren't paying attention to the last couple of blogposts from me, this is the first of a new twice-a-month update post I'm doing. If you follow my blog, One Man's Pony Ramblings, then this is all stuff you've seen before. But if not, or if you're someone who just needs to be reminded that things outside of FiMFic exist, here's what I've put up on my review/writing/ponystuff blog since last Monday:
It's that time of year again! Go slap a Santa hat on your avatar, if you're the kind of person who thinks that's fun! If you're the kind of person who thinks that's sorta dumb, then feel free to not do that thing, though. I can relate; sometimes I think things are sorta dumb, too. But personally, I kind of like this tradition, and even if The Descendant's not around to pimp Santa hats, I'd be happy to see it keep being A Thing.
I'm back home now, and I suppose it's time to retire the santa hat for another year. Oh well; into storage it goes!
If you don't religiously track my blog, One Man's Pony Ramblings, then today's your lucky day! Head below the break to see all the exciting things you missed, and to catch up! Or to see all the boring things you missed, and skim past them. Your mileage may vary, I suppose. But hey, I thought they were all pretty interesting posts...
We're edging closer and closer to the end of summer. I don't have any particular comment on that, other than to say that I'm against it on principal. I've never understood the "after a few weeks off, I'm ready to go back to work" crowd; it's not like I hate my job, but would I rather be able to sleep in, see my friends, and get some reading done? Uh, yes?
