Review Roundup: January 2nd - February 3rd · 9:25pm Feb 5th, 2017

Hope everyone's enjoying their Super Bowl Sunday! I'll be heading out for a watching party shortly--incidentally, I learned last year that you've gotta be careful which friends you watch the Super Bowl with. Don't want to hang with the crowd that talks over the whole game and then wants you to shush during the halftime show, of all things.

But no, this year's crew will be good. I still haven't been eliminated from a playoffs pick-the-winners pool, even! So, fingers crossed, enjoy the game, etc.

But, if you're one of those crazy people who doesn't care about football (insert soccer joke here), how about I hook you up with something to read? Head down below the break to see what I've written and reviewed in the past few weeks:

Monday, January 2, 2017: For a Change, Let's Talk About Actual Books (Part 21)

A quick overview of the non-ponyfic stuff I'm reading at the moment.

Wednesday, January 4, 2017: Mini-Reviews Round 166

Short reviews of Editorial Mandate, by LightOfTriumph; An Audition for the Eventual End of the World, by PhycoKrusk; Happy Hour, by Vivid Syntax; and The Lamia, by Cold in Gardez.

Friday, January 6, 2017: Zecora and You: A Primer on All the Syllables Except the Last One

A handy-dandy hoofy-doofy guide to stressed and unstressed syllables.

Monday, January 9, 2017: Fandom Classics Part 195: Whip and Wing

My review of Fernin's crossover adventure about Indiana Jones being magically transported to Equestria--and Daring Do being magically transported to Earth.

Wednesday, January 11, 2017: Mini-Reviews Round 167

Short reviews of The Early Life of Blueblood, by Macgyver644200; Of Course, by Ravensdagger; and Seashell, by Winston.

Friday, January 13, 2017: Fandom Classics Part 196: The Incredibly Dense Mind of Rainbow Dash

My review of Chengar Qordath's tale of Rainbow Dash being, just, so obtuse. Also: shipping!

Monday, January 16, 2017: First Sentences In (Fan)Fiction the 18th

More in-depth looks at the openings of a few Fandom Classics, and what they do (and don't do) right.

Wednesday, January 18, 2017: Fandom Classics Part 197: A Teacher With No Class

My review of Kavonde's story about Blueblood agreeing to speak to the kids in Cheerilee's class--and the wisdom that comes from the mouths of babes. And the stupidity, too. It's really a mix, in all honesty.

Friday, January 20, 2017: Mini-Reviews Round 168

Short reviews of At Faith Value, by Socks; The Wish Jar, by OleGreyMane; and Diamond Tiara's First Allowance, by Razalon the Lizardman.

Monday, January 23, 2017: Reviewer Reviews: PresentPerfect

You all know PresentPerfect, right? Does reviews, too? But here's the question: are his reviews actually any good? Herein, I present the definitive, inarguable answer.

Wednesday, January 25, 2017: Fandom Classics Part 198: Gazing to the Ocean of the Sky

My review of David Silver's story about a seapony who repurposes some mechanical legs, and sets out to explore The Dry.

Friday, January 27, 2017: A REAL Blast from the Past

Ever wondered what my writing would look like if I was a fourth-grader who'd just been introduced to AD&D? Here's your answer.

Monday, January 30, 2017: Mini-Reviews Round 169

Short reviews of Never so Far Away, by PoweredByTea; The Library Club, by Inky Swirl; and Another Day, by wYvern.

Wednesday, February 1, 2017: Fandom Classics Part 199: Statistics

My review of xTSGx's collection of, well, statistics--and the story that they tell.

Friday, February 3, 2017: Hate-Reading Reviews

Some thoughts on deliberately subjecting yourself to opinions you disagree with. Also, why the guy at The A.V. Club who reviews Son of Zorn is a hack.
