Uneasy is the heart on which lies a crown of guilt. Luna, formerly known as Nightmare Moon, knows this better than most.

Apologies are in order, for the truth behind the thousand years' exile is at once more mundane and even less likely than the legends suggest. Nearing the threshold of a brighter future, Luna writes a simple letter - and in doing so, attempts to leave the shadows of her past behind.

When reality becomes blurred, and Twilight's mind can't distinguish between the real and the false, she falls into an endless abyss devoid of any meaning for her, especially when she awakens with a broken horn. However, Applejack, in her attempt to pull the unicorn out of this melancholic pit, tries to understand why Twilight woke up asking for wings she never had.

Sunset Shimmer decides it’s finally time to return to Equestria to confront Princess Celestia and ask some tough questions about the treatment of Her protégés. She isn’t ready for the answers she receives.

 It had been a week since the Memory Stone Incident, and everything is back to normal. Or so we thought. Sunset Shimmer has been acting very odd to her friends lately, which has been worrying them. Especially Twilight Sparkle. Sunset has been secretly having trouble sleeping, cutting her skin open with a razor blade, and wearing the old leather jacket she wore back in the days she was a bully. And boy does Rarity, of course, thinks it doesn't match her current style. Twilight decides to find out what her friend has been hiding from them, as she doesn’t like it seeing her best friend in a sorry state. But what is Sunset hiding? Is it good? Bad? Only 1 way to find out. And Twilight is gonna be in for a big one!

Prequel to A Friend in Need

It's been a few hours since the battle of Midnight Sparkle vs Daydream Shimmer during the final match of the Friendship Games. Twilight is now CHS's newest member and has gotten along quickly with her new friends. Sunset Shimmer has invited her to stay the night at her place following their long and exhausting day. But little does Sunset know, it’s gonna be a long night ahead of her, of what’s to come for her new friend.

This decision, however, though not an easy one to begin with, carried with it a weight that only grew heavier with time. Now, fifty years later, it is the eve of the Summer Sun celebration. Festivities are being held all throughout Equestria, and almost all are celebrating Celestia's defeat of the great evil that nearly covered the land in eternal darkness.
