On a dark night filled with even darker magics, an insane cult attempts to give Nightmare Moon a body and life of her own, utterly separate from Princess Luna. But, when the spell is interrupted by Celestia, something unexpected is created.

Now, a little black alicorn filly named Nyx finds herself living under the care of Twilight Sparkle, only to be haunted by memories and emotions from her past. Is she Nightmare Moon reborn or is she simply a doppelganger with a soul and mind of her own? Can Twilight Sparkle protect Nyx from those who refuse to see past her dragon eyes and black coat?

Or, will Nyx be forced to inherit the sins that may not even be hers and become the greatest evil Equestria has ever known?

After her face and body are permanently scarred, Rarity seals herself off in her room with the lights off and drapes drawn, too disgusted by her own appearance to be seen. The only comfort she has comes in the form of daily visits from Spike, though she keeps the room dark to hide her deformities from the baby dragon. Can he convince her that she has nothing to fear; that her beauty is not limited to what she looks like?

Rarity has just bought a new television, and Sweetie Belle can't wait to spend the day surfing through the more than one-thousand channels. After a while of this monotonous task, Sweetie Belle starts to get bored.

But that changes when she and her friends discover one channel, a channel that will shock them to their very core.

Rainbow Dash wakes up to discover that something very important has been taken from her, something noticeable and humiliating. She tries to sneak into town without being noticed.

When her ailment is discovered by the Cutie Mark Crusaders, a certain orange pegasus helps Rainbow Dash discover that sometimes the greatest generosity comes in the smallest of packages...

...or so she thinks.

When all hope seemed lost, six ponies came together to form an unbreakable bond. In one swift stroke, the magic of friendship defeated Nightmare Moon and saved Princess Luna from the shadows...

Wow, Fluttershy sure looks rough. Like, really rough. She says that she's just been up late since she joined a band. At least, that's what she's told her friends. Twilight suspects otherwise. After all, Fluttershy's much too gentle and shy a pony to have joined a band. Clearly something else is up.

Everypony tells Twilight she's worrying over nothing. That is, until Fluttershy is seen in the company of strange ponies. And going around town in a cloak. And showing up at strange places!

Fluttershy? Is everything okay?

Scootaloo becomes fed up after always seeing her friends go to real homes and real families. So she sets of on a quest by going to Ponyville's Library, and asking for Twilight Sparkle's assistance in trying to find out her roots. The Cutie Mark Crusaders help her out, but Twilight has other ideas. While the CMC go searching for Scootaloo's roots, The Mane Six start forming a plan of their own.
