I heard there's a pony episode today or something

That's a Lie :raritywink:

Not the first post.

Just my luck. . . .

Cutie marks continue to be the theme of this season

Poor Clyde, he's just as accident prone as Derpy. And he's BIG!.

Braeburn's broken leg keep switching!:pinkiegasp:

Aaand I now have a new best pony.

Troubleshoes, why you so good?

I knew it. Misunderstood villain.

What's all this talk of ponies? :rainbowhuh:

Trouble Shoes is fucking huge. He makes Big Macintosh look tiny!

Is it my imagination, or did they give Braeburn a new VA? His voice sounds different

Overall thoughts on the episode?

I've got to say, I really liked it.

(Season 5 is really doing quite well, I've got to admit!)

Honestly, this was the weakest CMC episode to date. Pretty boring ep overall.

AND THATS WHY STARLIGHT GLIMMER EXISTS! THESE CUTIE MARKS ARE NOTHING BUT TROUBLE!

another filler ep at least discord and smooze are next weeks ep:twilightsmile:

Looks like Celestia's reign as biggest in more ways than one pony is over.

Braeburn was funny in this episode. He was the "stick" in slap-stick comedy!

First Big Macintosh, now Braeburn... Applejack doesn't show much caution around wounded ones.

Colt Troubleshoes was so cute.

That actually would've been really neat to see Starlight trying to coax him out of his Cutie Mark while the CMC were convincing him otherwise.

Right when they showed Troubleshoes' house, I was thinking; 'He is probably a misunderstood pony or something.' And when Troubleshoes started klutzing, I was like; 'Yep, definitely misunderstood.' and my older brother was like; 'his cutie mark is probably an upside down horse shoe.' A few seconds later, when his cutie mark was shown; 'I did not look that up!"

I burst out laughing at that.

she's been using magic since twilight time:twilightsmile:

Full grown Clydesdale eh? Big Mac isn't looking so big anymore.:raritywink:
Sweetie's magic is getting better, good to see. And I reckon Applejack is happy to have finally got a first place in a rodeo competition since that whole thing with Cherry Jubilee.
All in all, not a bad episode.

CMC <3 <3 <3

3036897 All CMC episodes are relatively boring.

Dan

Party Favor, Shining Armor and Double Diamond are worthy challengers, but Braeburn still holds the title of bishiest stallion.

Did they ever go over how Braeburn got injured in the first place? Cause he seemed waaaay too eager for Applejack to take his place in all of this. Perhaps it was by design...? :twilightoops:

How long before we start seeing Derpy X Clyde shipping pics and fics?

Also, it may be me, but I find the lack of Braeburn interaction, AND the lack of Little Strongheart disappointing. Another thing was that I feel this episode took a big step backwards for the CMC. Just two episodes ago, we had an episode about the CMC dealing with unwanted cutie marks, but now here they are blatantly disregarding what they learned in that episode. What if the CMC got a cutie mark there, but didn't want it at all later on? Wasn't that a conflict in Bloom and Gloom? Why the sudden 180 on this, and completely disregarding the lesson learned there? And another thing, they know their cutie marks already. In Bloom and Gloom, we saw that Sweetie was dreaming about something she liked to do, sing. Scootaloo's dream was about doing stunts on a scooter. Why do they keep beating around this bush? We know what their marks are, just give it to them already, and have them do other adventures.

same thing happens to fluttershy and rainbow. the characters flip flop constantly:rainbowlaugh:

3036895

According to the credits, they did. Andrew Francais did it back season 1 and now its micheal donovan.

I liked this eppie more than I thought I would

A pretty good episode. Not the best, but it had its moments that made me chuckle.

3036969
It's Michael Daingerfield. the same guy who voiced him in season 1 (that has since been confirmed by DHX. They said that Andrew Francis did audition for Braeburn, but Daingerfield got the part).

it is rare when anyone gets punished for doing something bad in the series :rainbowlaugh:

I'm going to have to sit down and think about this one.

This episode pretty much went completely differently to everything I was expecting. That said, it did confirm to me something that I've suspected for a long time - that, collectively, the Crusaders' real destiny is to help other ponies find their True Talents. Is there such a thing as a lifestyle coach Cutie Mark?

Troubleshoes was a lovely character. Nothing like we expected and yet wonderfully sympathetic and filled with pathos. I have no doubt that he'll soon become a fan-fiction staple for Appleoosia-based episodes.

(Oh, BTW, Troubleshoes Clyde was pretty certainly a Clydesdale Pony, like Big Mac. Big Jim says that he is larger than any of the other pony assets the show has done, including Celestia.)

AJ once again proves that she's the Bearer of the Element of Hasty Judgements. As always, she learns nothing from all the other times she gets other ponies wrong and nearly causes a disaster by her hard-headedness.

Was I the only one freaked out by the pony lynch mob at the end?

Anyways, overall, a nice workman like episode. BenRG's Rating: 7/10

P.S.: M A Larson credited in a production role, I noticed.

"Why'd ya have to run off with those three fillies last night!"

Just gonna throw that line out there and leave. Interpret it as you will.

I feel it was a solid episode and had a pretty good moral.

But CMC episodes aren't my favorites. I suppose I should specify though. More the group CMC episodes aren't to my taste. When they're focused around individual CMC characters it's fine. I enjoyed Bloom and Gloom, Sleepless in Ponyville, and FWTSBT just fine.

I'm also not a fan of western stuff and AJ. So this wasn't really my cup of tea.

Today's moral was:

Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

I hope for more Western eps.

Or clumsiness? Or bad luck?

Has anyone noticed that Applejack has been in every episode so far? Not that I'm complaining :derpytongue2:

First time is an accident,
Second time is coincidence,
Third time is directors cut?

Is it me, or has Dr Whooves been in the Used Cart Sales line of work again? That things as big as the Qrawler. :pinkiecrazy:

AJ once again proves that she's the Bearer of the Element of Hasty Judgements. As always, she learns nothing from all the other times she gets other ponies wrong and nearly causes a disaster by her hard-headedness.

So, what you're saying is that she's basically Kim Possible on hooves. KP also can't see past surface impressions or through psychological defense mechanisms. It's why AJ doesn't get along with Rarity and why she can't understand that Rainbow Dash is crippled by the fear that ponies only like her for what she can do.

In any event, this whole thing reminds me oh, so very much of Derpygate in that someone clumsy and misunderstood has to be directed by somepony with the brains to not snap to judgment to a better life. We could well see a Season Six episode that has them finally gain their cutie marks by saving the real whatever they end up calling the Derped One from a life of comic misadventures and social indignations.

I'm not exactly sure what to think.
I really didn't want to hate it after being less than thrilled with last weeks episode, and I guess I don't hate it, but I still have a few problems.
I love the CMC, but didn't we just have a CMC episode? I guess that doesn't really bother me but its weird.
What bothers me more than that is they're STILL trying to get cutie marks just for the sake of having cutue marks?! I thought we had just got over that, like, two episodes ago! It's just feels out of character now, that's how they were in seasons 1-2. They've grown past it.
Another thing, Troubleshoes being an outlaw by accident was way too cliche. We've seen that far too many times.
My biggest problem has to be how Troubleshoes got his cutie mark. If he really did get it for being a rodeo clown, that wouldn't make any sense because that's not what he was pursuing, that's not where he passion was. There was no reason for him to have gotten it when he did. I know he likes being a rodeo clown now but by that logic, he should have gotten it at the end of the episode.
Here's an idea for an alternative. The CMC stumble across the criminal, and he's an actual criminal. He only doesn't hurt them because he doesn't go that far. They learn he'd never earned his cutie mark and as a grown stallion, he doesn't know which direction to go in life, so he became a criminal. The girls put him through a bunch of wacky plans to help him find it, and it seems hopeless until he eventually does get it, maybe as a rodeo clown, maybe as something else, I dunno.
One other thing, it would have been nice if they had touched on how/why AJ got first place this year after not winning in anything last year. Even just one line like "I've been working so hard to make up for last year" or something.
There were things that I kind of liked, but none really significant.
I would just call it meh.

So many cutie mark episodes this season! If the CMC don't have them by the end of it, I'll be really surprised.

I'm a little disappointed in how little we've seen of the other mane six though, I really want to see how Twilight's adjusting to being royalty now that she finally has some responsibilities. Maybe the reason we haven't seen much of her lately is that this is taking place at the same time as Rainbow Rocks and she's on the other side of the mirror! Or something.

As to the episode itself, I think Braeburn and Trouble Shoes should hang out sometime. Neither can seem to catch a break! Trouble Shoes also sounds just like Eeyore to me. Could MLP be the new Winnie the Pooh? Will Applebloom finally get her cutie mark in pyrotechnics? Will CheeriMac become canon?! Find out next time! Maybe.

Anyone else crossing their fingers for episodes about Sweetie Belle in the future? Sweetie is best crusader!

Uh, no, that's not what they got over. What they got over was some concerns about "Say we get our cutie marks. What then? What if only one of us gets a cutie mark? will we still be friends? What if we get a cutie mark we don't want?"

What they did not get over was wanting a cutie mark for the sake of not being blank flanks anymore.

I think you two misunderstood the message in Bloom and Gloom, and Magic Song misunderstood how cutie marks work.

The lesson given in Bloom and Gloom was that you can't get a cutie mark that doesn't suit you, because it comes from your true self (or put another way, you could say it came from your soul). That has nothing to do with whether they're still anxious to get their cutie marks. In fact, it might actually make them MORE likely to want to get their cutie marks as soon as possible, given that now they know that no matter what they get, it will suit them.

And Magic Song, you don't get your cutie mark in what you were trying to do if that's not your special talent. Troublehoof's special talent was to be a rodeo clown (or at least to make ponies laugh), so when he accidentally did so and succeeded, he got his cutie mark.

Applejack worst pony once again
