    An Intricate Response

    Dear FIMFic,

It’s been a while, hasn’t it? If you’re still around, I’m thinking you’ve probably gotten wind of a rather controversial topic posted by MrNumbers regarding the state of FimFiction’s story landscape. While I normally don’t do this sort of thing, An Intricate Disguise wrote a rather thought provoking response to it.

    5 Long Years

    Dear FIMFic,

So, I just realized it's been 5 years and 18 days since I wrote the final chapter to The Golden Armor. A lot of things have happened since then, but I can't really believe it. Things have changed so much in those years, but you all still are there and some may even still be waiting for more of it.

I guess maybe it's time I did something about that.

I have a question for all of you

    Dear FIMFic,

So, I've recently been trying to write new chapters to All That Glitters and Across The Universe, but a problem has kept coming up. Whenever I sit down to write, I get blocked by an idea buzzing around in my head. Some of you did enjoy my failed contest entry, From One Unicorn to Another, and I've suddenly had new ideas to further that story thread.

Need an editor(s) · 5:31pm Feb 5th, 2014

Dear FIMFic,

I have a massive undertaking in mind, a full revision of The Golden Armor. I've have found out I do not posses the skills needed to change the story for the better grammatically and need someone(s) who are willing to mercilessly pick apart the story to make it live up to the wonderful expectations it is held to. If you are interested, please leave me a comment below and I will get back to you about it.

Also note, if I revise this story successfully with your help, I may ask you to be my permanent editor for all my stories, both published and unpublished. To Feather Scratch and Blagdaross, you two are welcome to apply as well even though you are my proofreaders.

Regards,
C.B.

I'd be more than happy to help, but I would recommend that I not be the only one helping.

I would if I had the skill for that :rainbowkiss:

I would be happy to help! Wording, grammar, sentence structure, and punctuation are what I consider my specialties in writing/editing; spelling not so much. That said, computers take care of spelling for all of us. :twilightblush:

I'm willing to help out, let's get in touch.

I'd certainly be up for that.

I would be more than happy to assist you old friend:pinkiehappy::pinkiehappy:

I have enough spare time to be of use to you, just let me know if I'm allowed to help.

I have a lot of experience editing for other people, and by receiving their feedback I'm quite sure that the work I deliver is 'not too shabby'.

I've also gained quite some experience in writing and thus can give you tips on where to improve as well as where you excell and how you can exploit that for an overall increasement of story quality.

As for the Golden Armor, it is one of my favorite fanfictions. Because of the knowledge I gained by reading the story as thorougly as I did, it can come in handy for the revision of the story as it will be easier to spot time gaps and plots that counter eachother out.

Because of all this, I think that I'm fit for the job, aswell as in the long run. Now just hope you think so aswell ;)

Kind regards,

-Nightshader

Ps.
Even though it seems like a good idea to have multiple people, each editing their own set of chapters. It could be unwise because each chapter might seemingly have it's own writing style.

However, this can be resolved easily by making some basic rules with each of your editors about what they may and may not change, and what exactly you want to have fixed and/or improved.
The choice is yours.

Ah man, I would have loved to help, but I'm going to be out of contact for about 3-6 months starting the 11th

i'd be willing to help got some experience as a proofreader and as a editor and got enough free time to respond quickly and frequently

I'd be happy to help as well. I currently edit for thehalfelf and the Wizard of Words, but neither keep me all that busy lately (the Wizard is taking a bit of a break and I help edit elfy's stuff while he's writing it, most of the time).

Darn... if only I had the time to help. Well good luck with the revision.

I might be able to extend some assistance - it'd give me an excuse to read TGA again!

I can help! I've done it before and I tend to notice mistakes even when I'm not editing, so I believe that I'm a good candidate! I hope you find some good editors!

Having looked over the first chapter, all I can find are spacing errors and frequent awkward sentence flow. I don't see anything wrong with the grammar itself, but I would love the chance to clean up a lot of those off-sounding spots. The Golden Armor has always been a fun read for me, in spite of the awkward writing, so I would work quick if it's on a Gdoc. Some references to my own work and past editing are on my user page if you're interested.

I can edit if you'd like. I'm good at grammar, spelling, and general syntax. I'm also pretty good at proofreading.

Honestly, I'd love to edit for this story. It's one of my favorites on this site, and it would be awesome to be a part of that. But I don't really see the point in editing it, it's amazing as it is.

But whatever you decide. Up to you.:rainbowkiss:
~WA

Coming to both The Golden Armour and its sequel somewhat late in the game, I did notice that there was a marked improvement in the second one over the first when it came to stuff like that. :raritywink:

So ya, you can hit me up for some help.
Y'know, if that's ok wi-nope, not gonna do that, it's tired already. :facehoof:

I'd be happy to help anyway that I can to improve upon an already excellent story.(P.S Angel is my favorite.:rainbowkiss:)

Well, I would love to help you but I figure you'll have enough people to choose from already but, eh. If for some special reason you choose me, I'll be ready for it ^^.

I would love to help editing, but I don't feel like i would be the best candidate for helping with the awesome stories that you post because I think I would die from the greatness of it. Anyway, here are some assets:
•I have enough time to edit or read over anything due to the fact that I am awake until about 2 or 3 in the morning because I don't get tired.
•Most of my free time is spent reading or writing little stories.
•I helped to edit my friend's book. It is currently in the process of being published. I have experience editing and proofreading.
All of that said, I would love to help editing and work with you. It would be great to work with other people while editing and be able to confirm ideas.

Wishing you the best of luck on finding the best possible editor(s), while hoping it will be me.

Now having read the comments, NightShader has a point about having multiple editors, but aside from his suggestion you could have them work together on the chapter to make sure it is the best it could be. If you have multiple editors you could do both of our suggestions to ensure that it is as good as it possibly could be.

That is why I want them to pick over my story one chapter at a time. I'm going to be compressing some chapters into one, rewriting a lot of things and generally overhauling the story.

I like the sound of what you're doing. From what I now understand of what you're doing, going slowly will be the best way to take this. Sorry for being so slow to respond, but I'm finishing up an essay that is due on Friday.

Oops the comment didn't pop-up on my screen and I posted it twice.

hmm revising huh:rainbowhuh: welp i'd gladly read it again:twilightsmile: but i don't know about editing...

I'd be more then willing to help and would be available whenever you need me, I've edited stories for people before but I had to take a break due to school but now I really want to take it up again.

You can check, little big pony for reference to my previous editing, thanks and have a wonderful day.

Man, I'd love to offer my services, but you've already got like a hundred other offers here. Plus, I'm probably gonna be too busy with school to be the most helpful editor anyway. Still, good luck with your writing in the future. We all love to see everything you create :D

I'll go for it. I love stories, but grammar mistakes seem to rip the experience apart.

I'd love to! I'm really good at editing, so sign me up! :pinkiehappy::yay::rainbowkiss::raritywink::twilightsmile:

I'd offer to help, but I think you have enough support already

:ajsmug: I'd like to throw my name in the hat

Dear Mr. Burst,

I offer my talents, however few they may be. Have your ponies talk to my ponies. We'll do lunch. Etc.

I'd recommend an eight year old, they kick ass. Or maybe a hobbit... Gandalf did say that every wizard should have one while traveling. (I'm actually not being an asshole, an eight year old will show you stupid little mistakes in the story line that you would overlook because of how simple they are. That, and they'll ask you 'why?' So many times, you'll just tell them every-fucking-little detail to your story there is. And Gandalf did say that, I read the books multiple times... or was it in the movies?). And since I have the maturity of an eight year old, but the intellect of a collage grad, I think I may or may not be a good editor. Also, I'm spontaneous as fuck, I might make your story so fucking beautiful you'll cry, or it'll be so retarded you'll cry. Either way, you'll cry. I'm sorry.

My free time is skewed so I might finish editing in a day. Maybe five. I have no idea, as I have said before: spontaneous as fuck. Also: I'm brutally honest. If I feel something is just barely off, I'll shoot so many holes into your story it'll look like a changelings vagina. (I think you can tell that I am also quiet vulgar, despite my upper-crust upbringings and uppity grammar. That's what I get for going to a school full of druggies, sluts, and whores. I can tone it down if you want. Maybe) ... Would that be considered honesty or extremely prejudice? Eh. Close enough.

While I am incredibly interested in helping, I fear I don't have the necessary time for such an undertaking. College is extremely busy, but it looks like this isn't exactly a project you want done ASAP, so I think I'd be able to piece out my time for it (if you'd have me that is).

I guess I'm saying that I'd like to throw my hat into the ring and, just maybe, be lucky enough to be one of the few chosen. If you would like some references for my past editing, just ask. Best of luck in your quest to choose a group of worthy editors!

~SolidFire

I'd like to be a part of the editing too. I'm good at spelling, punctuation, and I think I'm decently good at finding an awkward phrase or sentence since I can't speed read for the life of me. Though, I don't have any real experience in editing someone else's story. Either way, I can't wait to see the new and improved "The Golden Armor."

i've had some editing experience before and i'm willing to help, just let me know when:pinkiehappy:

...Wow you have a lot of people already.

Anyway, if you need another, I'm pretty good at editing. I'm rather slow, but also pretty thorough, so... I like to think it balances out. Dunno how many people you actually need editing it, but I'm available for at least four hours most days, so I can help if you want me.

I'd love to ^_^

I can notice a fair bit of the minor things, but my free time is coming rapidly to a close with college. As it starts in four days, I can help you before then and whenever free time comes up. I'm online quite often and if you need to, you can send me an email so I can work on it during free time during class.

I do have some experience editing for other friends on fanfiction.net and real life, but the choice is yours.

I have a lot of spare time on my hands right now since my workplace has me down to two shifts and I'm between colleges until fall, so I'd gladly offer my services. Unfortunately the only person I've worked with in the past on this site much was SmutAnon, on both Apples at Sunset and Lesson One, and since he's gone from the site (as are his stories) I can't really use him for a reference very well. 41K and 18K words, respectively; I work quickly and am generally heavy-handed with my editing process. Shoot me a PM if you're interested!

I'd love to help edit your story. It's probably the first thing i read after all the ace combat related ones.
I pretty much jumped to make this account once I saw this blog post :pinkiehappy:

Dear Mr. Burst,

In case you'd like a bit of a resume, here's a link to a story I've worked on as an editor: boop!
