The Hearth's Warming season is a time for celebration, and for family.

Diamond Tiara and Pipsqueak have never been the best of friends, but when he finds her sitting alone in the cold, he knows something is wrong. Nopony should be alone that close to Hearth's Warming. So to keep her company, he offers to tell her a story. A very special story, from Trottingham.

It's a story from a long time ago, about a pony named Tannenbaum, and a village called The Gate.

Sweetie Belle and Silver Spoon have been dating for six months. It hasn't been easy for Silver Spoon to get over all her bad habits, or for Sweetie Belle to completely forget the past, but with a little effort, and a lot of love, they've made it through together.

That's why Sweetie Belle knows that this, their first Hearth's Warming together, should be perfect. Especially since she won't have a chance to see Silver for two whole weeks. And the perfect Hearth's Warming date, of course, needs the perfect Hearth's Warming present. Too bad Sweetie hasn't found it yet.

Will Sweetie Belle be able to find the perfect present at the last minute? Will she be able to balance it with giving Silver the perfect night?

This story is related to The Secrets of Bitmore Theater, but it is not necessary to read it to understand this story.

On the outskirts of a village by the sea, just north of Halterfax, there is a house.

In the house lives a maid, tasked with caring for it in the absence of its masters, who have not visited in some time. Every autumn she dutifully seals the windows, locks the doors, and prepares as the fog rolls in.

In the fog are ghost stories waiting to happen. Beasts and specters blown in from the sea to haunt and roam the coast. This is how it has always been in the village, and the maid, like the villagers, has become very good at avoiding the fog.

This autumn, however, the house has received a new master.

A series of short stories regarding a Bat Pony, the supernatural, and when it is appropriate to be sensible.

Sweetie Belle would have been perfectly happy to spend her long weekend in a theater. She would have been just as happy to ignore the fact that she would be stuck with Silver Spoon the whole time as well. When a vengeful spirit declares war on the fashion show being hosted at the theater, however, Sweetie and Silver find an unlikely alliance forming—as well as an unlikely affection.

Can the two fillies work out their differences and defeat The Phantom of the Bitmore? And how will Sweetie Belle react to the terrible secret of the Phantom?
