Kegisak

T

On a cold autumn night, a pair of ponies are discovered. Ponies with strange wings, and stranger eyes. Wild, bestial and savage, but with a spark of intelligence. A spark of civilization. A spark fanned by the lords and ladies of high society, breeding class and eminence. Bat Ponies.

The wind howls, and ponies forget.

First. I'm sorry, I just couldn't resist.

Edit: Faved. Looking forward to future updates.
I did see a few typos that a read-through should fix.

Quite an interesting premise, I'm definitely gonna track this one. I look forward to more!

mmmm.... this is different. watching.

Damn, looks like somebody beat me to the premise.... I have my own vampire story, that I am just waiting to hear back from my editor... I am kinda nervous cause I have no clue if I want to read this or not. Kinda afraid on how similar this could be to mine... Hope it's good though!

It's not a vampire story.

...At least not yet.

Kegisak, if you've tricked me into editing for a vampony story, I will end you.

The moment I see Bat Ponies... I fear the worst >.< I don't want someone to beat me to my punchline! I am so close too... I am torn between publishing when the first chapter is complete, or waiting until the full first story is complete. As I said, I haven't read it... but ... I still fear the worst >.<

*chuckles* that's the image that started my Luna's Story series. I shall mark this for reading later. :pinkiehappy:

Oh, don't you worry. No vampires here. I mean shoot, I even cut out the reference to Dracula in this chapter!

Well, I shall read this when I can! I'm kinda nervous about my story, I know its original but I don't know if I am delivering it the right method. It is going to be my first fan fic ever, and first story in at least 3 years.

Well, I know what I'm reading when I get home from work.

Oh, something that explains the Nightguard? I've been looking everywhere for a headcanon as to their origins. Tracked.

Interesting premise! I've written quite a bit about the Lunar Stallions myself, in my series "Luna's Story." This is just fantastic stuff, you've got a serious handle on your atmospheric work to say the least. I really like how you paint the city and set the scene. I wanna see the next part soon, with plenty of interaction between herself and the two bat-ponies.

Being a scientist I'm sure she's going to want hair, blood, shavings, stool, all that fun stuff. That's going to be interesting to watch, with her being an earnestly happy scientist when she's DOING something. I understand she doesn't like other ponies, but most brilliant minds don't enjoy company very much, so meh-- haha. Erin is hardly likeable but I see her making pretty good friends with those two.

Sending some of my watchers your way (1700+), make way for a few new eyes, hopefully! :yay:

1343748 you see that "aegis shield" guy in the comments here? He have written a whole series on the nightguard, they are quite popular and he have over a thousand followers. Just sayin'

the story looks awesome enough and i will get to reading it as soon as this comment is done. There, now i can read.

edit: gurff is my new favorite word

A few words from the right pony can travel quite a way. Liked and tracked, now to sift through everything else you have written...

I say good man. This is quite the good read! I look forwards to more. Keep on it. I am quite enjoying this story.

Sound Wave Reporting in from Aegis' Watcher's list! *giggles*

Awesome story you have here!! Can't wait to see more!! :pinkiehappy:

If Aegis says its good. I'll read it.

Oh, the master has come to pass judgement on the world. I'll keep an eye on this, as well as actually decide to read it. Eventually. Not now.

A seemingly new take on the bat ponies, I am intrigued. I, like those before me, came over from Aegis Shield's stories to take a gander here. I must say that I do like what I see so far. Please, continue :pinkiehappy:

Aegis Shield sent me. I like this story a lot. I can't wait for the next chapter.

Very intriguing.:pinkiehappy:
I AM awaiting further releases!:fluttershysad:

I'm a fan of the Lunar Stallions, and this sounds interesting. I shall track it and read when I can.

Came here from your post on it. I love it

I was half expecting "blank check" to get her thrown out of the guard house.

By the Night, YES another amazing take on my favorite Bat Ponies.

looking forward to more also I absolutely adore Erin the Science Type this has soooooooooooooooooooooo much potential.

This is great, really good take on the Bat Ponies. I've read about them as a separate species, ponies wearing enchanted armour, mutants, exiles of Equestria, pony/dragon hybrids, Descendants of Luna & mad-science/magic gone awry. This is a good, fresh look into batponies, a zoologist who wants to study them, really interesting, kinda odd that so many ponies considered them animals, given how they're similarly shaped, but I'll ignore that, given how Xenophobic ponies have been shown to be.

Also I can't wait to see if Erin finds more Batponies, could be like she ends up with fifty of them in her home at some point ^_^.

holy crap, this is a story that keeps your ass on the edge of your seat. I'm loving this

The pony's name reminds me of the show Beast Player Erin. Coincidence?

This story... it's so.. captivating... *is staring at the screen with a look of anticipation*

It's tough for a research scientist when they discover their animal subjects aren't just animals. You're doing great with the build-up, keep up the good work.:moustache:

Well, let's see how will she keep reacting once she confirms that they are indeed a fully intelligent subspecies of her own kind :rainbowlaugh:
Awesome chapter, keep up the awesomeness please

I am really liking this one so far, you have me wishing the next chapter were ready to read! Carry on good sir, I want to see what becomes of these bat ponies...

Oh dear...:fluttershysad:
Awaiting further releases.:fluttershysad:

This story... this story got something. And when someone says, that something got "something", you know that shit just get real! dl.dropbox.com/u/31471793/FiMFiction/emoticons/misc_Rainbow_dealwithit.png

Oh Erin, you silly. Finding a new species is exciting, finding a new subspecies of your own species should be even more exciting, like Finding Bighoof or Seaponies. Great chapter, I enjoyed Erin's reactions, also like the Batponies reactions and developing personalities. One is clearly dour, maybe an older brother who is more aware of their current situation...or he's just lazy or bored and the other is the younger brother full of energy and curiosity.

Looking forward to seeing what Erin does next.

An excellent update, I'm really enjoying the solid interaction. You're not going anywhere else, you're staying at the heart of it all in the lab. We the readers don't wanna go grocery-shopping with the scientist, or hear from her colleuges. It is an excellent narrative choice to pretty much stay in the same building. If we're not with Erin, we're with the two bat ponies. Smart choice!

Also, I'm glad to see she did actually go in for hair samples, skin samples, etc. There's a lot to learn when there's a new species afoot! The mirror test was excellent too, there's not a lot of species on earth that recognize their own reflection other than humans. That was very interesting to watch, and see the two of them work it out. Or rather, the one active one work it out. Their distinct personalities of lazy versus curious and active are good. It helps us really tell them apart with little more than body language and energy level to work with. Well done. (I'm kind'a surprised she hasn't named them, just for the ease of the research. Even scientists that work with chimps name them for friendly purposes.

Once more, your scene-setting descriptions are just great, I really do like that you set the scene with such wonderful colors and simple things like blowing leaves or setting suns. Never lose this quality in your writing, it really is a fantastic strength of yours-- one that sticks out amongst so many writers on this site. And sticking out gets you more readers!

I eagerly await the next chapter!

first of all, I agree about staying with the scientist. Second of all, I'm looking it up in another tab now but I'm pretty sure there's a list of stuff with reflection recognition.
I may be wrong.

EDIT:
All apes, some dolphins, elephants, and some magpies can pass the mirror test.
So yeah, passing the test is a good sign.

I am pleasently suprised by the rather fast and long new Chapter, do you have them prepaired beforehand? if not you are really good at typing the Magicks keep up the excellent work.

1411485

Heh... believe it or not, this doesn't really feel like 'fast' updating to me. On my last big project, The Colour You Bleed, I had a new chapter up every week - and they were just as long as these, oftentimes longer.

But thank you! It's good to know that while I may have slowed down, I'm not yet slow. and I'm glad you're enjoying it!

1411699

I envy your ability to throw down text like that! It takes me a little longer than I care to think about to matcha chapter this length.

Regardless, this story is turning out to be as intriguing as I had hoped it would be. I look forward to more!
