There is a nursery rhyme that has made its way in various forms through Equestria's history, featuring three little fillies, a wicked wizard, and a dark mirror. But the passing of the centuries have a way of obscuring the true story, and the events that gave rise to this simple but eerie poem have been shrouded in the mists of time.

But in another world, they wait. They resent. They remember. And they, at least, will never forget.

Set in the TAS continuity, but can stand on it's own.

This story is a sequel to A Few Days Prior

A mere day before the beginning of the inter-school Friendship Games competition, an oblivious Aria Blaze takes a lunch break at the mall, and finds herself seated with a disgustingly cute and quirky couple. She's already had a bad day, but whether she ignores or interacts with them, they seem to find some way to make it even worse. It only devolves from there.

When four strange ponies arrive in Ponyville, it doesn't take long for Twilight to notice that they match the descriptions of ancient harbingers of the apocalypse. Sure, their generally meek attitudes seem a far cry from the four dreaded destroyers, but between their amnesia and the circumstances of their arrival, Twilight finds herself faced with three possibilities:
1: This is all some big misunderstanding.
2: They are the four horses of the apocalypse, but somehow arrived early and won't be causing any trouble... right?
3: The end really is nigh, run for your feeble lives, etc.

Needless to say, Twilight really hopes it's not option #3.

The previous night, they had all gone to sleep in Ponyville, safe and secure. Now, they awake in a clearing in an unfamiliar forest.

The world has changed. The year is on a completely different calendar. Civilization consists of three small cities divided by a quartet of lakes. The local ponies' customs are achingly familiar and yet completely alien, particularly in the way they keep the races seperate and worship two completely unknown Alicorns called the Wardens. But worse still - this new world is under attack from familiar foes, and Twilight and her friends are the only ones who can defend it.

Yet there's something wrong about this all, something being hidden from them, and Twilight is determined to find out what - no matter what it takes.

The sirens have been defeated, but the day is not yet over for Fluttershy.

Bolstered by the dark magic of Twilight's new castle, Tree Hugger becomes an evil alicorn, and after realizing she's not just having a bad trip, tries to take over Equestria. Obviously, shenanigans ensue.

It's only a few days to the beginning of the Canterlot Metro Region's annual inter-school competition, the Friendship Games. Some of the Shadowbolts have a peaceful lunch, unaware that they're on the wrong side of a bigger conflict. Two days after that, the Rainbooms learn some alarming news.

One week after the Battle Of The Bands, a special assembly is called, as Sunset Shimmer and the Rainbooms have a very important message for Canterlot High. Sunset just hopes what they're doing won't be thrown in their faces, but she'll push through, so long as there's a chance it could work...

When the three new students arrived and proposed the Battle Of The Bands, they attracted suspicion from Sunset and her friends, but they were prepared to deal with that. What they didn't expect was that their song affected another student more deeply than they could have forseen, and now she's found them. As magical battle erupts around her, Trixie just wants to know if she's rooting for the right side.

And Adagio Dazzle is all too willing to give her the answer she wants to hear...

Nopony was there to help her. She’d taken the shift alone, despite all the rumors. She’d dismissed them as pure nonsense – and now she was to pay for it with her life...
