Soft Touch and Dawn are a pair of adventurous ponies, out to make a living in a world that just doesn't seem to want to cut them a break. Whether it's a strange door sign or getting a job spying on a dragon, they do their best to make it through the night.
That doesn't mean they make it through unscathed.
But after years of adventuring, they've managed to muddle their way through enough things that they really are pretty good at what they do.
These are their tales, short though they may be.

The chapters are set as scenes from events in their travels. Each can be read, independent of the others, for a short, often humorous, read that shouldn't take more than a few minutes. Each 'chapter' was written in 30 minutes or less as part of a weekly writing event. Here's to hoping you enjoy.

There may be jokes or implications, but nothing you couldn't find on daytime television... or the Coneheads at worse. Remember, saying "condom" does not make something rated R, and Teen novels include things like the Twilight series.

Crossover
David Silver's wonderful Ponyfinder RPG setting provides a backdrop, though little material is actually in the story beyond the use of other races.

Human
It's tagged because there are occasionally humans. It's part of the nature of crossover or AU stories in this vein.

Sprincess Pielight Tarkle... or Princess Twilight Sparkle (once the script was wiped clean) may have collected a bit of Smooze goo after the Gala. She might have been researching it. She also possibly spilled a little while running an experiment on its properties.
There would be only two potential issues with this, highly theoretical, and by no means representative, situation: 1... it's from a highly magical, elder beast, and 2... it's immune to conventional magic.

Things could potentially escalate.

Okay. Things escalated quickly.

Equestria and Earth have a portal! Wheeee! Heroes and hero worship abound, but so does tourism, business, and the frontiers of science. During a guest appearance at and American College, Rainbow Dash explains how the water cycle works for Non-Equestrians of higher education.
And gets called out.
And responds the only way she knows how... by being AWESOME.
Which results in a diplomatic nightmare and the president of 'Merca having to throw down the laws of the land.

Which Equestria simply won't accept. It's high time that Twilight Sparkle broke out the RECSMA and brought all of Equestria's not-insignificant historical might to bare.

Silly 'Merca.

Princess Celestia asked the element bearers to write her friendship reports. When she reads about how Twilight overcame Tirek, she is surprised and... somewhat less than pleased.

After all, as the Princess of Friendship, shouldn't she have tried to work through Tirek's issues? Shouldn't she have tried to reform him? Shouldn't she have known better than to give the villain all their power?

And then there is that one, last, thing...

Draenor is broken and the very realm weeps. Those bravest of heroes that fell with the dying world were forever lost to their friends. But somewhere, in the vastness of space, a few of their cries were heard... and answered.

For an unfortunate few, the old gods came to collect. For fewer still, their magics returned them, though forever changed. But for one, lone Forsaken, another's voice has answered the call.

It is, perhaps, for the best though that her trip has cost her so dearly.

In the hours after the Changelings were repelled, the Royal Guard managed to conduct an emergency census to assure the safety of both the city and its citizens. As more information comes to light, celebrations and reunions become the tale of the day as it is found that there were no fatalities despite the attack.
Nopony died. Everypony's alright.
Truelove can't stop smiling. She simply can't.
If she stopped smiling, she'd have to face the fact that her Tendercare isn't on a business trip.
She dearly wants to forget that he was never in the census to begin with.

It all started with Twilight Time. Well, maybe not all started, but close enough. There may have been some shortcuts taken and there might have been a mistake or two, but it really shouldn't stop the running of the leaves.

After all, when Applebloom actually did a little research and, to everyponies surprise, experimented a little, well, she didn't earn her cutie mark...

He was just out there, minding his own business, when he had first been summoned.
Big day for any imp. First summoning. Yep... time for a new 'master' to learn the ropes.
It would mean weeks (if not years) of service, slaving away, being beaten and abused while doing his new master's dirty work. It would be horrible. It would be agonizing. It would be unbearable. And in the end, it would be worth every moment of it. For, while he would be 'serving' his 'master', he would be slowly tainting them until they could be turned to the demon lords dark purposes.
And then.... then he had been banished, unexpectedly, in a battle and ended up............ here.
This was so not in his contract.

Ever since Applejack and Rarity were stranded at Twilight's for her very first slumber party, Twilight's been inviting her friends over for 'proper' slumber parties just so that they could all have a bit of fun and relax. Over time, it's become tradition, leading to some rather entertaining antics between the six friends.

But one of their favorites has become the telling of scary stories. While Twilight delights in the socializing and Rarity savors the creative process, Dash and Applejack have taken to trying to beat one another for the scariest tale. Surprising everypony, even Fluttershy's taken to listening with rapt attention. Her stories have all been rather gruesome - she does work with dangerous animals after all - though no one's quite sure why she likes it so much... maybe it's like Pinkie said... sometimes it's just fun to be scared. And speaking of Pinkie, her stories are alwa-...
...
Wait, come to think of it, Pinkie's never told one of those scary stories. She's always been making snacks or setting up for the pillow fight, or ... something. Hmmm.... maybe she doesn't like 'scary' as much as she's been pretending?

Whatever the case, Dash is determined to find out.

Fluttershy, the timid bearer of the Element of Kindness, is soft spoken, soft hearted, and... well.... Soft.
She's easily frightened, terribly shy, and prone to hiding at the slightest provocation, yet, she lives only yards from a terrifying forest which is home to some of the most dangerous creatures in Equestria.
Her friends don't understand it; they can't reconcile the confusing disparity between her actions and her choice to literally live on the knife's edge of the wild, unforgiving, primal forest.
How can she not only live there, but thrive?

There's a storm coming, and if you're very quiet, you might just find out.
