Only two things would have made this better:

1. Instead of a sword fight, you should've made them get into an exploitable, broken, and dragged out children's collectible card game.

B. Made this a harem, where Mac gets all the mares.

Fish. Gotten the advice from some old, drunk, perverted and wise old man/pony.

Johnny Bravo. Some incredibly long, unnecessary flashback where Twilight remembers she learned, grew, something or other.

Not a bad job.
