Blank Slate

I'll expand this later :p

T

Keratin-Eliminating Mammal-Oriented Single-cell with Antibody-Burning Excretions. KEMOSABE disease, known more commonly as the gruesome "Meltmane Fever." A truly devastating plague with disturbing effects and no guaranteed cure known to science or magic, both modern and long past. Except one.

~~Book I~~

An outbreak of KEMOSABE across all of Equestria puts Rarity and Spike the dragon in the roles of Ponyville's last hope. With only an old pony's tale and the wisdom of Zecora to guide their way, the unlikely adventurers set course for the Purest Spring, a mythical fountain with waters said to cure any illness. Their journey is fraught with peril as they head towards Zebreria, a dark land of endless winters and monstrous creatures.

Shortly after their journey commences, Ponyville succumbs completely to the KEMOSABE, leaving only five equines- Fluttershy, Twilight Sparkle, Time Turner, and Lyra Heartstrings, and Zecora- in any shape to help. These five must work together to keep their town's withering population alive and stable with a rapidly diminshing supply of bacterial suppressants and no chance of outside help.

[For the record, the excessive capitalization in the chapter titles is entirely deliberate.]

Eeeee! So good! Even if everyone is bald and DOOMED to a lack of fabulosity. Oh, and dying, that too.

Also: "It's as real as my skull, and it does exist." <--- I see whatchoo did there.
And: Rarity's war face <--- There too! :raritywink:

Also.. MOUSTACHES! :moustache::moustache::moustache::moustache:

2101418 Thank you! Tell me, how many chapters does it say are available right now?

Before I even read this, the first thing that is coming to mind is Lil Wayne. Weird, right?? :rainbowderp::rainbowderp::rainbowhuh::applejackconfused:

2101484 Just the first one, sorry, took me an hour to notice my alert window. :derpyderp2:

What you have so far seems really interesting! Can't wait for more. :rainbowkiss:

:heart: I love this.

:raritywink::moustache: Rarity and Spike to the rescue!

2101544 Highly.
2101561 Thanks. I needed to make sure the other chapters weren't released yet, and thanks for the fave.
2101651 We're looking at a weekly Sunday release of new chapters.
2101884 I'm still trying to continue the joke, but am failing at it. Tanks for the fave.
2102200 Ohmigod koala avatar! :pinkiehappy: Thanks. Read the tags, though. It won't be a fun adventure...

Well, when I saw the summary, I saw KEMOSABE and that went right into one of my favorite tracks from Lil Wayne, hence the comment. Now that I have seen the story, I'm intrigued as to how those two are going to proceed. Starting off in the wrong direction (until Twilight pointed it out :twilightblush:) usually is not a good sign.

Also, what is happening, exactly? I can kinda understand that the majority of ponykind is going bald and without hooves, but is this really something that could turn fatal with time?

2102748 Yup. Keratin is the key element to strong skin. They're literally going to have the skin melt off their bodies if Rarity and Spike take too long. :pinkiesick:

:fluttercry::fluttercry::pinkiesick::pinkiesick::pinkiesick::fluttercry::fluttercry:

Eeewwwwww indeed. So how much of a clock are we working with, is it gonna be something similiar to "It's a Dangerous Business" (you know which fanfic I'm referring to, since the entire name is too bucking long :facehoof:) where our protagonist duo has only about two weeks roughly to get a cure?

Just wondering, since I'm now seeing a few similarities...I will keep an eye on this one. Rarity and Spike to the rescue!!

2104502

Yeah... Squick...

At most, two months. And, no, I don't. What fic? Aw, crap, has someone done something similar already? :twilightoops:

your responses:
1/ Thanks for replying to that response.
2/ There is a short novel, emphasis on novel, by a user name Jetfire, named It's a Dangerous Business, Going Out Your Door. Long story short, in that story, Twilight is stricken with a malady that could kill her if a cure isn't found. Because of this, only certain ponies can find the cure, and it's on a very condensed schedule. I'm not gonna spoil it for you, since it's apparent that you haven't read/seen it yet, but I saw only the premises were similar.

By all means, please don't let this stop you from writing this!!! Every story has to get inspiration from somewhere else, and even though you may worry that you may be plagiarizing or copying from others, remember, variety is the spice of life! There are literally thousands of ways to make it work, feel free to make it uniquely your own!! :raritywink:

2105291 No problem; it's common courtesy.
Ah, I see. Well, I was using Brian Jacques' Salamandastron as inspiration. Oh, no worries, I won't quit this series. :twilightsmile:

2102303

Already read 'em.

( I have a secret love for this stuff.:twistnerd:)

2106614 Same here. Something about adorable, masrshmallowy equines meeting terrible fates is oddly entrancing. Believe me, things are gonna get grim, later; especially the end of Book II. Two people broke into tears at what I hinted :3

2106849

For some reason, yes, neon ponies meeting some sort of horrible disease or injury makes an awesome enjoyable story. :rainbowhuh:

2106989 I know, right? I shall call it the Law of Adorable Schadenfreude.

Law of Adorable Schadenfreude. I like it. :trollestia:

2111478 The more superficially attractive something is, the greater the enjoyment received by its suffering.

TVTropes Namer, here I come.

Hehe

I made a Law Of Adorable Schadenfreude group. :moustache:

SUCH AN AWESOME NAME:trollestia::trollestia::trollestia:

2288775 Wonderful- I may submit this once I finish. My laptop literally exploded after this chapter was put up, so I'm a little behind. :twilightblush:

It's fine. I have my own Fimfiction absences. :applejackconfused:
