An alternate universe where Discord was still evil and Starlight was the one who confronts him? That's a very interesting plot, and immediately has my attention.
As the embodiment to chaos, I would've thought Discord would have his hands in the proverbial pudding of more things around Equestria honestly. I love to read about him. Good start.

Discord would indeed feed of the chaos of all the villains attacking, Chrysalis, King Sombra, Starlight in a way, and Tirek.
He of course will target the best source of chaos he can find, and that is Starlight.

Speaking of Tirek, how do they defeat him without Discord ( I know he betrayed them. But, it was technically Celestia's fault for trusting him than Twilight and her friends in the first place. And wasn't he vital for getting the last key? )?

Oh, I should probably explain. Starlight got bold and wanted to fight Tirek herself, but he overpowered her, stole her magic, and forced her to tell him about Twilight.
Starlight basically did the same thing Discord did and gave Twilight something as a symbol of her friendship with Twilight once Twilight demanded her release along with her friends.
