Around a year ago, you were found unconscious in some reeds by the bank of Ponyville's river. With very little intact memories and nowhere else to go, Twilight Sparkle took you under her wing at the castle. She and Spike quickly became your found family in this new world. It helped that you fit right in with your voracious reading habit, almost enough to rival Twilight's. "Reader the Human" became your name over time and you saw a counselor, Mrs. Tendercare, about the issues that followed you through whatever portal took you here.
Now, you fight against your own negative self-talk as you do the taboo, and ask Twilight for a hug.
I love the incorporation of the story title and chapter title into the story. It did not click in my brain how brilliant it was until I looked at it again.

I did this in most of my HiE stories with adult ponies being about 6 feet tall. Although at the time I was new to writing FIM fanfiction (or stories in general) so I just wasn't thinking about how tall Equestrian ponies really might be, and I didn't feel like retconning it. Horse-size ponies FTW!

I headcanon ponies to be 6 feet tall. As for Alicorns, Twilight is the shortest of them, being a bit taller than most adult ponies. Cadence is next, being slightly taller than Twilight. Finally, Luna and Celestia are the tallest ponies, at around 20 hands (6.5 feet) each.
CMCs and foals are shorter, around the size of a regular pony on Earth. Basically, a fully grown human could ride anypony in FiM, as long as you ask nicely!

Wholesome story, good art, sometimes we all need a hug. It was nice to see the ponies helping Reader get past their reservations and doubts too.

The ponies would probably only come up to your waist if they were real but horse-sized ponies are fun to think about. Especially when it comes to the princesses.

Just don't forget that horse/pony height is measured at the withers, not the top of their head, so you still got all that neck adding some bonus height.
