nice work once again. Heh, best be careful what t say around Blitzer. Though, he should be careful not to scare friends with it

He should be careful period. If left unchecked, who knows what damage Midnight may cause!
10786228
Yep. Kinda reminds me of a tf2 animation
10786228
Oh dear. Now I know something happened. I'll read it now!
10786228
Now that I've read it, I'm pretty happy with the Shadow Zeloph interactions, and Mini-Trix popping in was nice.
When it comes to Midnight v Dion though, let's just say a ton of alternative Midnights and Thunder Storms (his dad) just became disappointed the moment Lightendark Midnight said he yields, or when he stated his training regiments.
This was a good chapter. Again Shadow and Zeloph are having their moments here.

Hey
10786313
i was eager when you would see the update

Sort of the theme of this three-part chapter. Showing the 'hero' relationships and perspective of things before switching to the 'villains,' and I'm using the terms loosely. End of the day, these are characters with their own motives and trauma to settle through while seeking someone important to them.
As for Midnight and Dion's spar, winning a fight was never the goal. If a character were invincible or super strong, they'd be boring to me. In some cases, surrender gives way to understanding. If Midnight kept trying to overpower an experienced opponent like Dion, he wouldn't learn anything.
That being said, the last part will be a lot more relaxed. And a lot more saucy ~
I think Zeloph and Shadow Scythe have a unique friendship, which will also be further explored next part.

Yeah just read it.
I said that Shadow and Zeloph are having their moments right now and I like their scenes.
Also I said that the Dion v Midnight fight would've caused various alt versions of both Midnight and his father to become disappointed when Lightendark Midnight stated his training regiments and then yielded.
I found this chapter to be very good! Like always Nota and Shadow do create masterpieces. What did you like about the chapter?
10786321
i found it was well done as always

Spicy
I agree with your points, just stating what the opinions of other alts could've been. All Midnights find a way to fight beyond their limits, like ACIV Midnight questionably using fireworks on the changelings, and most of them would basically fight till they are completely defeated. So Lightendark's initial yield would be a bit of an offense to how much they have sacrificed. But like you said, acceptance/realization is what changes characters. Spoilers, chapter 3 for my story will have that realization as well as lore.
Breaking down is Midnight's way of growth. It allows him to be put back together and become stronger. Maybe not physically, but mentally.
So I find the Dion v Midnight very soothing. I also am very interested in the friendship between Zeloph and Shadow. It reminds me of that scene from mlp where the Legion of Doom seem just close to being actual friends but then Chrysalis basically shoots that idea down. Wonder how things will be in the next chapter.
It's clear Midnight will need to train much harder than he's ever done. Like his training was good as a Peacekeeper, but it completly pales to what Pneumbra or Dion have done. And that's not including that he probably slacked for two years during his stay in the Paradise World. Even a theoretical Midnight who trained much more rigiously, like maybe Marine, SEAL, or even Green Beret/Special Forces level of training, and for much longer, would still probably get landslided by Dion.
But the thing that makes him strong is not training but his friends. His determination to save them. Dion made it pretty clear that the moment he began to talk about how Cerise would get fucked if Midnight did surrender in reality, and then suddenly Midnight went berserk. And this probably would be true for any Midnight, hyper form or not. Now all they need to do is to tame that rage and make him use that strength and will to protect others when it comes to the real fight.
There's a limit to how strong Midnight can become from training, but when it comes from emotional triggers, well who knows where it could be then.
10786362
In this Midnight's case, he's probably been heavily influenced by who trained him; I could see Penumbra in particular stress the long game, and that there's no shame in strategic retreat.
I figure Midnight would be aware he's no match for Dion currently in the middle of their bout, plus he promised Cerise he'd be careful and would hold back for her.

1) I was worried that Dion was going too far in pushing Midnight to fight for his family & friends, even for his culture.
2) I smell a redemption from Shadow Scythe. Given her mentality thus far, it looks more like she's forcing herself to hate Beatrix.
3) With how utterly tied Shadow's hands are in killing Zeloph, however much he deserves it, that only makes finding a way to slay The Burning King much more vital if the Multiverse is to be free of his parasitical crusade to kill everything and everyone.
4) Will that really happen? As much collateral damage as she may cause throughout her adventures, she still brings hope to the more unfortunate universes, which is something Abadonna needs in her life. I doubt that Beatrix reaching her first will cause the Multiverse to collapse that hard.
10786784
1) Perhaps, though it could have been a lot worse. Dion knows how far one shouldn't be pushed, unfortunately.
2) Good observation! It's quite possible for Shadow Scythe to confuse hate for love. Though keep in mind, she's aware that the empathy was forcefully awakened in her and not by her choosing.
3) The problem isn't really slaying the Burning King as it is keeping him in his box.
4) Imagine how quickly things would be resolved if Zeloph and Beatrix just talked it out and agreed to share the responsibility. Both have matured in their own way, which will make their next encounter after so many months very interesting~.
10786926
3) So how would one lock The Burning King in his own realm?
10786784
In Shadow Scythe's case, my idea is that she'd been a psychopathic megalomaniac her entire life until her encounter with Sunny (Sunset Shimmer's counterpart from the human world) who tried to 'purify' her soul; Shadow Scythe retreated into herself to preserve her identity, lost her memory for a time, and was almost child-like as she spent time in the manor with Beatrix and her friends.
After her memory recovered she's been at war with herself, and like you observed she's definitely been forcing herself to hate Beatrix, fearing she'll lose her true identity. Since then she's been highly unstable as she wars between caring for her former allies and wanting to return to who she was. (Since she didn't feel guilt, empathy, etc. then.)
10787132
Then she'll need to stop this psychological self-harm and embrace the fact that she already has people who care for her. It's never too late to outgrow your original self.
10787177
Pretty much! Although I don't want to make it too easy on poor Shady, she's her own worst enemy!
10786930
He's already locked, though his influence can leak out at times...
