Sharp Shooter finally returns home after being stationed overseas for two years. Only problem is, no one really sees him as a hero, or anything positive for that matter. With no job or family, Sharp travels to Ponyville.

That's the poem 'In Flanders Fields', written by Canadian Doctor Lt-Col. John McCrae in WWI. He would later die in the Second Battle of Ypres in 1918.
Such things, are always hard to process. But what happened, happened, we can't change it.
Nice work, as always!

That reminded me of the phrase "Dead men tell no tales".
You hit the head of the nail with this one. As that's like war in the middle east today.

When I was a young Lance Corporal, I met a retired Hospital Corpsman who'd served in Vietnam. We eventually became friends He told me the story of his time with a CAP while he was in-country, and that he'd seen enough in his first month that he gave up his Red Cross brassard and drew a pistol from the armorer (Charlie was NOT a signatory to the Geneva Conventions, and had decided that the Red Cross made a great substitute bullseye for impromptu target practice...).
They routinely ran patrols through a village, and had befriended a little girl there. One day, they were walking through the ville and she came running up to them, suddenly twenty pounds bigger than she'd been two days before. He spotted a pull ring at the top of her blouse, yelled at her to stop in the pidgin French/Vietnamese/English he'd picked up... And then his eyes went dead and he described in a monotone how he shot her through the throat before she could grab that pull ring and detonate the satchel charge her mother and father had tricked her into wearing... How he and that patrol went back late at night and paid a little visit to Mama-san and Papa-san... and got justice for that little girl.
Sharp just met Papa-san, but at least he doesn't have THAT on his conscience...
It sucks how stuff like this is real. Kids in places like columbia, pakistan and other warring countries are dragged into war rather than be allowed to play.
I expected something bad from the name of the chapter but holy crap I did not expect this
Another brilliant chapter as always
Great story. Looking forward to reading more.
I hope this continues, good read.
