Nicely done and better late than never, the training reminds me of All Quiet on the western front. And an interesting headcanon with the boots.
Them relaxing and drinking, have you ever played medal of honor?
Also, a little mistake I noticed.
Nice chapter, good job mate!
Ah... so that's what ended up happening to all his savings. It makes me think of earlier in the story when he mentioned going back to his hometown and saw his mom and sister. They didn't shun him, but were awkward with him. And his father still wants nothing to do with him. It makes me ponder on how his family actually feels about him sending that money to them. Were they just using him after all? Do they feel embarrassed that their salvation comes from a war they detest? Or are they just embarrassed that they had to ask him for that after the way his father treated him? I'm hoping they actually care for him, but considering my own experience with my brother only calling when he wants something I'm a bit jaded. I'll be looking forward to seeing if he can reconcile some more with his family as the story goes on.
Sendoffs are usually the last time soldiers see their loved ones.
Ooof. Lotta good stuff here, only to end on that gut punch.
Hoping we'll see more of modern day Sharp next. Jumping back and forth like this really lays out how much his experiences have changed him.
Oooo, Love this chapter.
This was a very well-written training chapter, especially for one so short. You managed to condense what most authors make into multiple chapters, if not dozens, into a single one, and it still conveyed all the key points. Well Done!
Also, with the addition of tanks into this war-situation, it is beginning to heavily remind me of the Equestria at War Sub-Fandom. Was that your intention behind the style or were you simply aiming for general warfare?

I'm aiming for general warfare I think, I don't know the other you mentioned.

Oh Ho Ho! Then let me enlighten you to the wonders of the literal best Sub-Fandom of MLP.
Equestria at War is a mod for the popular Grand Strategy Game; Hearts of Iron 4. It literally takes a Fandom designed world for Equestria and implements MASSIVE amounts of lore, geopolitics, and military warfare into an amazingly fluid world. However, the main 'canon' plot that follows from it is a couple of years after the Changling Invasion of Canterlot, they have returned in force. Conquering the Deer Kingdom of Olenia and beginning their own Blitzkrieg into Equestria with Equestria struggling to keep up their own war-machine.
Many solutions players have done are simply fight it out, but their are alternate routes for Nightmare Moon taking power, or perhaps the strongest and most loved of them all, Daybreaker.
But not only does it contain the main continent. It also contains a HUGE 2nd continent of Griffonian Kingdoms and massive HRE style Duchy combat. With a Third Zebrican Continent in the works. Just look for Equestria at War in google and find their discord server, it has insane amounts of information.
There is also a Equestria at War Group on FiM for all the Fanfictions made for the world.

Oh, I have that game, no idea there was such a mod. But then, no, this is simply it's own story. ^^
If he is naturally such a good shot due to his cutie mark, wouldn’t he get atleast a recommendation for something like a sniper or designated marksman role?
10357557
Yeah, that is also the role he will assume as time goes on. But I like to play with the idea for now that the whole army is still finding it's way as it's not used to firearms. I drop small hints here and there, like how he thinks the squads should be bigger, and in future how some mistakes could be avoided if the army was structured better.
So the concept of a sniper has not really been invented yet, to them, all rifle ponies are snipers. Hope that explains a bit.
Yet again you amaze me with this story. I have to say I absolutely hate bi-pedal stories but the way you portrayed it did not put me off whatsoever I really like the idea of enchanted boots. Another thing that I am intrigued with is how good you are with the military structure, a lot of stories I read do not understand military units and ranks and just do a mishmash so it is very refreshing to see someone right about it correctly.
Also, the amount of bad lads army in this chapter is unreal and you have propelled into watching the whole series again for this I curse you!
(keep up the excellent work)
10357563
Ah okay, similar take to a lot of nations after the invention of smokeless powder before WW1, who thought the average rifleman would be capable of extreme long range engagements.
Also I did some rereading for the hints, I noticed the specific one about scopes and rifles being personally bought due to supply issues, must have forgotten about that when I originally read the chapter.
10359782
No it's fine, the hints are tiny, and I like the fact people can reread chapters and spot hints here and there and get more out of the story after a second reading. If I can do that, then I know I'm doing at least something right.
10358554
Thank you, that means a lot to me. I've really been trying to organize things, taking things from the American, British and Danish army. Spend a lot of time trying to make it feel at least somewhat realistic even though I know we are talking about ponies using firearms. XD

Me: * Reads about the mod *
Me a second later: * Buying Hearts of Iron 4 *
Just in case, is it worth buying Hearts of Iron 4?, I stayed in the previous installment because I read that
HOI4 was easier and that made me not buy it at the time (And apart from that I bought the Mount and Blade saga).
10362590
I’d say it’s definitely worth it to buy. Just make sure to get it on sale and buy all the dlc when you can.
It is definitely the gold standard of grand strategy games up there with Europa Univeralis 4
I'm getting the feeling that Pin Point isn't going to make it... Don't do this to me.
Oh my gosh, it's the Canterlot Sanitation Department in their snazzy blue coveralls!

Make way for the boys in blue! The heroic boys in blue! They sweep and scrub the streets of Canterlot. The amazing boys in blue!
Oh a Bolt action. Which rifle were you imagining?
