Well well well... I may give this one a closer look at some point.
I know how the game ends, seeing as I have played and completed it myself. Things here aren't going to be identical, you say? Very well, this is going to be interesting. Either way, one thing is for certain... Ruin has come to our family.
Before I read this, I must know: Why can't Luna or Cadence raise the sun?

In this story, they don’t even need to be in one of the dungeons to eat it.

Ruin, indeed.

Are you talking about the Mare in the Moon?
And the Pink Pegasus?

Celestia blows her brains out in the prologue and Luna never came back from the moon because Celestia found a way to interfere in the prophecy.
Not telling AppleJack the truth going to cost them.
hmm. we met flutters awhile back. i wonder how on point the rest are going to be.
You know, for a boss battle... that was somewhat anti-climatic.

My two theories:
1) The Necromancer is commonly regarded as a pushover boss.
2) Without any ties to Celestia, Mistmane is... kinda randomly just there. Her death has little meaning because it lacks the personal connection the Ancestor had with the sorcerers he murdered for sh*ts and giggles.

Theory 1: You are quite correct. I’ve downed the Necromancer before he’s even raised a single undead before, poor guy.
Theory 2: To be fair, she was beat to a pulp before she could finish her monologue. So nopony has any idea what her story is.

Except Celestia. Who has proven to be chatty at times. Though Blueblood didn't feel like asking her either, to be fair to her. It might be a little more difficult to explain things when this Celestia apparently isn't as, well, totally evil as the Ancestor was... but then, it might be enough if she simply invited Mistmane and the unicorn found herself twisted beyond her original, benign goals. While we have no idea what the original Necromancer wanted before he was killed, I very much doubt it was anything good or the Ancestor would've mentioned how he nipped that glimpse of hope in the bud. Had a habit of crushing people, that one.
Sharktavia being a thing is a little silly, but I think it helps as a bit of levity with how dark other things are, and it's good to see acknowledgement that simply being torn in two isn't a guarantee of unconsciousness, earlier chapters seemed to really err on the side of ponies going out like a light when they got too damaged, rather than drifting in and out of consciousness for a bit (especially looking at Amethyst).
