Twilight Sparkle stared down at the Rubikâs cube in her hands. She constantly moved it around until she solved it. As she leaned back in satisfaction, she wrote down her time in her ever-present notebook. âOnly 7.89 seconds. Not nearly close enough to the world record.â
She had been here last week, but that time, she had fallen asleep while waiting for the experimenter. This time, she had taken precautions. She made sure she had a deep, restful sleep the night before and she already drank a full cup of coffee. She hadnât even brought Spike along; she was afraid he might distract her. There was no way she would fall asleep this time.
âExcuse meâŠâ
Twilight glanced up as a man in a lab coat approached her. He was tall and sported a swoop of turquoise hair which stood out against his pink-ish skin tone. On his lapel, he wore a purple spiral pin (Hint, hint, thatâs his cutie mark). She stood up to greet him.
As she extended her hand, she introduced herself: âHello sir. Iâm Twilight Sparkle.â
When he answered, he spoke in a very quiet, monotone voice. âI hope I havenât let you wait here too long. My name is Dr. Nicholson, okay? And you must be here to help me out with my little experiment, correct?â
âOf course! I love experiments. I always have. So, when I saw your advertisement for someone to help you with an experiment, I was ecstatic.â
The man smiled as he let go of Twilightâs hand. âExcellent. Excellent, excellent, excellent. I really do appreciate you being so punctual because it really does help me complete my work so much more quickly.â
Before Twilight could respond by taking pride in her very detailed schedules and alarm system, Dr. Nicholson interrupted. âNow, before we begin the experiment, I just want to do a quick examination right here, okay?â
Twilight nodded, placing her full attention on him. She didnât want to fail this examination; she had never failed anything before and she was not about to start now.
Dr. Nicholson raised his fingertip up in front of her eyes. âIâm going to move my finger back and forth, okay? Just follow it with your eyes.â
Twilight nodded and kept her eyes on his finger as he moved it first to her left.
âThatâs it, very good.â
The young girl smiled faintly at the praise, but still only let her eyes move, following his hovering fingertip.
âAnd now to the right. Keep on following it with your eyes. Very good.â Dr. Nicholson grinned. Some people, if they were paying attention, might find that grin malicious. Twilight would have agreed with them, but all of her focus was on his finger; she wasnât even aware of his grin at all.
After this, the doctor started moving his hand back and forth, from right to left and back to the right. Twilightâs eyes moved back and forth accordingly as she listened to his next words.
âAs I pass my finger back and forth, right as it reaches the center of your field of view, blink your eyes, okay? You can do that for me, canât you? No, donât speak. Just do.â
Eager to follow his instructions, Twilight kept her mouth shut and slowly swept her eyes back and forth. Left and then to the right. Right and then to the left.
The doctor smiled and started talking again in that low, monotonous voice, âThatâs it. Blink those heavy, heavy eyelids. Left, then to the right. Right, then to the left. Now, focus on my fingertip as I hold it upwards. Thatâs it, holding it higher and higher.â
Twilight still didnât move her head, for she did not want to fail the examination. So, she kept following his fingertip higher and higher. She had to roll her eyes up in order to look at the tip of his finger.
After a couple seconds of this, Dr. Nicholson started lowering his finger slowly. Twilight kept following the fingertip as he let it drop down. His finger dropped so low that Twilightâs eyes were practically closed. Closing her eyes had never felt so good. Wait, why? She wasnât tired.
Twilight put those thoughts out of her mind as she heard her next instructions: âGood. Now, I want you to close your eyes. Let those eyelids lock shut for just a moment, okay? Try to open those eyes.â
Twilight was a bit confused, but did what she was told. However, it was as he said: her eyelids were locked shut and she just couldnât seem to open them.
This was different from the time Rainbow Dash had taped her eyes shut for a prank. That time, she could open her eyes, but there was one small obstacle that stood in her way.
This time, it was almost as if she had forgotten how to open her eyes. They kept fluttering in place as she tried to open them, but she just couldnât figure out how to unlock them.
Dr. Nicholson grinned again and let his hand descend into his pocket, both unseen by Twilight. âVery good. Now, donât open those eyes until I count from one to three, okay?â
As soon as he finished counting to three, Twilight opened her eyes, slightly perplexed why she could do it so easily now when it seemed so difficult a couple seconds ago. She shook her head and looked up in Dr. Nicholsonâs eyes. âDid I pass the examination?â
He met her gaze. âWith flying colors. I think that youâre going to be an excellent subject for todayâs experiment and youâll be able to provide me with a lot of extremely valuable data, okay? Well, we canât do the rest of the experiment here in the waiting room, so just follow me, okay?â
Twilight zipped her backpack up and scooped it onto her back. She followed him through a set of double doors and down a long hallway.
The walls gleamed white. Twilight marveled at how spotless it looked. There were countless identical doors on either side of the hallway, but she followed the flowing lab coat in front of her. âNow, I know that there are a lot of rooms here, but donât worry. Iâll be sure to guide you to the correct room with all of my experimental equipment, okay?â
âI cannot wait to get started,â the lavender student barely stopped herself from skipping down the hallway. She surmised that she was almost as energetic as Pinkie Pie when there were free cupcakes in the cafeteria. Although that was probably because of the caffeine she drank before leaving home, but she was able to rein it in and keep a professional appearance. She was just so excited to finally take part in a professional experiment as opposed to her own experiments at home.
Dr. Nicholson half turned around, addressing her while still walking straight down the hall, all while talking in that low, monotonous voice that soothed her. âNow this should be a rather fun experiment. It shouldnât be stressful in the least as long as you follow all my instructions and obey them, okay? You just have to focus on being good and following along.â
Twilight nodded. She could do that. She could follow instructions and obey them. She frowned at the strange wording, but went along with it. He was probably just eccentric and couldnât word it better.
She perked up a bit at his next words: âWeâre almost right to the correct door, okay? Here, let me help guide you to the correct door.â Dr. Nicholson slowed until they were walking side by side. They turned slightly, as if to enter a room on the right. He placed his arm around Twilightâs shoulder to guide her.
Twilight was about to gently detangle herself from the awkward position, but she felt a pinching sensation in her neck.
Suddenly she started feeling very drowsy, very sleepy. It was almost as if he had injected her with liquid lead. It was flowing out towards her limbs, weighing them down. She could feel the drug coursing through her veins, taking hold of her body and mind instantly.
She gazed dizzily up at her attacker as he explained: âIâve just injected you with a powerful hypnotic drug.â He was almost bragging, showing her the empty hypodermic needle.
Twilightâs knees buckled beneath her but, before she even had the chance to fall, Dr. Nicholson had already swept her up into his arms, cradling her and lifting her up easily and effortlessly.
The guys name should probably be ponified; in EQG the people still have pony names, so he kind of sticks out sorely.
Will you be taking requests for future one-shots?

Yes, but it may take a while. I am currently writing so many things (fimfiction and schoolwork) that it'll take me a bit to get around to it, just so you know.
Okay so when are you going to post the part 2 of your story cause its been over 12 months since you posted your first chapter, and I speak for all of us to ask when will you get around to posting your next chapter?
Hmm. Nice.
Not really a "yes set" start, but more of a test for suggestability.
Ha. So, last time there was a trance, and amnesia. This time, there's eye fixation, "good girl" response test, eye locking closed test, etc.
So what I'm seeing is: Do a simple test involving amnesia. If the pony doesn't come back, they are a bad fit.
On second round, see if there is any subconscious resistance. If not?
The initial eye fixation induction, the "guiding" / "follow me" / "just obey", along with the hypnotic repeating hallway ...
That "Drug" might have just been a harmless saline solution. Or, a very light/weak drowsy/sleeping agent (highly diluted -- you don't actually want sleep), and the whole "I have given you a hypnotic drug" speech is all you need at that point.
Meanwhile ... part 2? Hypnosis hijinks please.
