Well this was a fun chapter, with lots of world building to it which I though was pretty much well rounded for the most part. Like all the side quest that this could lead to. Paradise sounds like a fun place to visit, I am guessing that RED Eye is scouting the place before invading, I would love to see Red Eye's focerces in this one and see what he thinks of Red's objective to rebuilt a central government of Equestria again. Ould love do see more of dandy's other colleagues.
My only minor gripe with the chapter was the sudden and unexplained sudden interest by Gearing of Anervation that seem to come out of no were. Don't get me wrong I did like the reasoning presented in it, and I feel that it wasn't properly explored in the FoE:PH, but it was just missing the string
reason explanation as to how he got interested in the subject again subject and how it was kick started; I am guessing that it was an off handed remark for the doc, that peeked his interest and that he started inquiring about, that got him to think about it. I am guessing that his interest in investigating the Core might come from his black opp reasoning that anything that you don't know will kill everyone, that it is just an interest of his to poke his muzzle where it doesn't belong to too, I am guessing that the AI might actually have the possibilities to shut down Gearings implants or even harm him or even enslave him by cohesion, and be forced to work for the Harbingers. Or he could be convinced willingly by Dawn to help out to revive Equestria, and reviving the stable could be just one part of it. I wonder what parallels he would saw with the Core AI with himself.
I loved the last flash back on this one, I though it was interested to talk about the memory wipe and the more controversial aspects of the war period, and just how so casualty Gearing talked about it as it it an incredible violation of a personal being, even if the guy was being paranoid about it; it makes me wonder how his mind was twisted from all the propaganda and black ops that he has been involved in, and how.

That archive of information is a good example of how I like to double dip with scenes and sections of story. Delivering information while giving hints, foreshadows, explanations, etc. With the goal of doing it in an entertaining way and moving the story along. And this one was not only rough, but rough on Gearing on a deep personal level. And one of the things with this scene was showing that not only does he really deeply truly care, despite what his cavalier attitude might seem like at times, but he's also a different pony in private than in public. A fact that gets explored more as the story goes on. Along with certain aspects regarding time, and that Gearing himself is living history. So the past is still very much relevant. Thus why none of the flashbacks are actually gratuitous.

Yeah, I thought it good way to help deal with something so heavy, given the situation. And, like a lot of things, this whole section has long lasting consequences / ripples into the far future. And I'm sure there's lingering questions about Gauge still, but there's more that'll be revealed that should quell and satisfy the curiosity later on. And Glimmer ... yeah... yesh... I hate to be vague but It gets worse than what's already revealed.... but at the same time gets better in other ways.

As far as Red Eyes *taps on his own snoot* you're on point. Red Eye's forces are in the area, canonically, and I've taken that into consideration and not in a minor way.
As for Enervation, I didn't get into a long winded explanation and argument with Bone Saw, about it, because I knew the conversation with Dandy was going to come up and explain all of that. But if you remember from a few chapters ago with what had happened with Nahlah and her wounds, [ not to mention the problems with the healing potions, and Gearing's own hindered healing rate ] they had discussed talking with a medical pony about what could possibly going on. With Bone Saw being the first one they'd run into, I was working for people to be able to infer that that's how the conversation would have come up. Especially with Gearing's rampant curiosity and simultaneously not being able to stand not knowing about something that's causing him problems.
Though it also demonstrates another bit for him. That even with a wealth of knowledge, he can be very much wrong about certain things. And jump to the wrong conclusions. But the worst part about this one is that his logic, as you pointed out, is pretty reasonable.
I've had a lot of thought put into any interactions with the Core's AI. With various out comes based on how much Gearing knew at the time. But time will only tell which way it goes.
For the flashback, I'm glad you caught on to some of the implications of the scene. And there will be more exploration of that later on, I can guarantee it. And one of the things that had been mentioned, I'll reiterate, was a comment about Gearing's use of force and his 'mental checklist' so to speak. Although, and I'll lamp shade this, I can admit that it doesn't seem like 'restraint' is really in his vocabulary in the current world of the Wastes of Equestria.
And there's a very good reason for the apparent dichotomy.

I now that Enervation was seen and talked about before, but it was so many chapters before, I didn't get while he would bring it back again. I can certainly understand skipping the conversation with Doc, just that I was curious to know what brought up the subject back to the forefront of his mind again, it just felt like it came out of the blues.

Oh that totally makes sense. After all chapter 44, where they were talking about looking for a medical opinion, was nearly 6 months ago in our time. But story wise it was only about two days ago from Gearing's perspective. On top of that he'd have no expectations of finding a medical pony at what, in his mind, was a swap meet or at best shopping center. Otherwise it would have been higher on his priority list. His general snooping for info he keeps sneaking off to do led that far. Thus making that evening his first real opportunity to do so.
