Every Hearth's Warming Eve, we remember Clover the Clever and her friends, who ignited the Flame of Friendship and founded Equestria.
But before that, each of the pony races had their own kingdoms, and each kingdom had their own politics. Their own agendas.
The story that follows is about a single pegasus, who has just recently lost everything. So he embarks on a treacherous adventure to get it back together.
But he will learn that life does not travel backwards.

Before I read this, I must know: What does "life does not travel backwards" mean?
I feel like it moved a bit fast for my tastes. I might have enjoyed a scene with him sitting next to his mother in the hospital before he decides to leave on an adventure but it was enjoyable so what its worth.
You crammed a lot of exposition into a 1000 word chapter and I think you made it work well.

I thought about doing that, but it's just not relevant. I just wanted to not linger too much on the "before" part of the adventure.
