The main character Iron Hoof is challenged throughout this story. Iron Hoof's loyalty to his father Golden Hoof is questioned when he is forced to make a life changing decision. Iron Hoof must fight an internal war to prevent an external one. Golden Hoof's plan must be stopped and Iron Hoof is the only pony to do the job.
