But despite what has passed between the two, there is no animosity at their meeting. Rather, it is very much a meeting between two old friends, tired of fighting but who have known nothing else since their parting so many years ago. But will this tenuous peace last? Or must Celestia and Chrysalis be fated enemies until their deaths?
After all that has transpired, is it even possible for them to be friends once again?

Disappointed. Perhaps I would prefer for the it to stay incomplete, if only I would remember it as it was back then. Or I just wouldn’t care.

I like this chapter but wasn't there a previous story where Chrysalis and Celestia met when they were kids?

Yes, you are thinking of the version that I originally posted, which I have since put on hiatus because I couldn’t find the right words to convey what I wanted. Because I hate to leave something unfinished, and because it always leaves me disheartened when I see a story that I like marked “incomplete”, I decided that I would remove what I had previously written and instead present the last chapter as a stand-alone.

I apologize if my decision isn’t to your liking, but I was terribly stuck and didn’t want to just leave things incomplete as they were. If it helps, I still have everything that I originally wrote saved away, and while I don’t plan to touch it in the forseeable future, I would very much like to eventually go back, to revise and finish the entire thing, once I can find the right words.
Admittedly, the blame rests on my shoulders, for deciding to begin publishing before I had finished writing everything. But

You shouldn’t really apologize for your decision. I mean, just because I, as a reader, may have certain expectations or hopes for your story, it doesn’t mean that you, as an author should focus on following them. And afaiac, a story discontinued in the early stage is better than one being dropped at the cliffhanger after many arcs of development. Most fanfics are never completed, and most of those who are, aren’t really good either after all.

P.S. And I would love to read anything Chrysalis related in the future ... as log as it won’t feature Thorax or Starlight in the context of being right and on the higher moral ground, that is.

Oh, I don’t think you need to worry about that from me. I don’t particularly plan on touching Thorax at all, and while I have no problems touching GlimGlam, I’d much rather have her interact with Twilight and/or Trixie than to try and righteously exalt her actions.
