Wait. So Shiny is Bill's grandson?
7227355 Yup. Basically, Shiny and Bill met during training, so Bill was always "Commissioner". About a week later, Nightlight invited his parents to meet his girlfriend, Twilight Velvet. Shiny was surprised to see his boss at the dinner table, and the two are sort of trying to bond as cops and as grandfather/grandson, which does make things a little bit awkward.
... Who new three little letters could cause so much confusion?
Edit: Also, Shiny only just found out his mother's remarrying. He told his mother he's happy for her, then went upstairs to sleep (pass out).
Another edit: I noticed a small, possibly confusing typo in the Author's Notes... I have corrected it, now allowing time for Shiny to actually be old enough to be an adult, let alone be in the police force
