Would you look at that. The game I enjoyed playing as a kid

6233995 It's on steam for 5€.

I replayed it recently and it just sparked the idea for this.

Is Twilight actually dead or is this a dream?

6259505

What do you think? I mean, she's in a realm called "Deadside".

Got this game form GOG really one of my better purchases.

yeah it feels a little cold disconnected in this chapter i actual skipped a bit of it

well you had no troubles in this chapter it held my interest all the way through.

6307850

Okay, so now I have to find out, is it a problem of length or writing? Maybe it was just that the Gateway chapter was more exploration than combat and I had to fill out a lot.

6307900 It was the writing in the Gateway chapter the descriptions and such seem a bit more dull the previous chapters which you your self noted in the authors note. The length however was no trouble and didn't seem to affect the quality at all. One thing i can recommend to help with setting the atmosphere in your writing would be to read the work of others. There's two stories on this site that you could dissect and maybe get in touch with the authors The Seal of Wax and Glass and Lost Cities . Also looking into more traditional authors such as Edgar Allen Poe and such could give you ideas on how to write atmosphere.

6307985

I've read already so many things and I talked with a good friend of mine who can set up atmosphere and I was just sick about reading it, that's why I'm writing this. I never intended this to be the next big... hmm.. let's go with Past Sins. I just thought that actually learning by doing would suit me better. Maybe I was wrong, we will see about that later.

I hope that it is atleast pleasant to read.

6308038 ah then all you need is practice practice practice keep up the good work.

One of the better chapters so far in the story.

Not even an epilogue? Please?

6404574 Sigh, epilogue... I forgot that.

Well, okay I guess I can punch out an epilogue. Stay tuned.

Dude i alomst clocked this game as a kid always last boss game over i got say do u do demon stlye fics

6993274

:rainbowhuh:
Is that a question now? Like: "Do I demon style fics?" or was it a compliment like: "You do demon like fics."

If the first, I don't know what you mean by that and second, I don't know what you mean by demon.

So yeah, I'm confused by your sentence.

6993280 ok il try to simplfy demon means as in demons creatures from tartarus most are hostile but some are not and help keep the rest contained i was asking because u have real skill and was wondering uf ud like to co auother a fic

6993358

As of right now I'm not looking for a collab since I'm struggling to write right now. Welcome to Deadside and it's sequel are actually just venting works for my (hopefully) next and biggest story yet. I just created them to take my mind off of the other story.

Maybe in the future we can talk about that but atleast not until I'm satisfied with that big story.

Oh and... well I always had a taste for horror/gore etc. I just had problems writing those. Welcome to Deadside was actually also just a work to test myself in that genre and as far as I can see it was liked.

6993599 well you have talent in it me i tried once and failed im bad at details for gore

6995315

That's why I wrote Welcome to Deadside. It's based on a video game that has enough gore and horror in it so I didn't need to wreck my brain too much and end up making it too crass or creating gore for the sake of gore.

But in the end it's just experience, getting a feeling for the world you created, the characters that play by your rules. If you take a world that is gruesome and crazy on it's own (Like the deadside from Shadow Man) you don't need to work too hard to immerse your audience.

But maybe that's just me, believe me I still struggle writing gore or horror without a preset world.

6995445 yup though if i ever did a colab fic with you one game we could go crazy with gore is splatterhouse lol

6995480
Well to be honest, unless necessary, I don't like to turn my fics into a splattermovie. Yes Welcome to Deadside has a "lot" of gore but even so I still tried to use it only so much. In one of my earlier drafts the story was far, far, far more gory and it ended with me not liking it.

Not to mention the story's original draft was far more... sexually explicit. I had to tone it down to a lot since I didn't want it to be fetish fuel, not that I have a problem with that, I just didn't wanna let this happen to Welcome to Deadside.

In my opinion, writing horror and gore is a narrow path to walk down. If you make mistakes you end up breaking the immersion or you write gore for the sake of gore and I don't want that.

6995582 same here i ment the fact the game splatterhouse is purely ott violence on the comedy side is all it would be a great way to get better at gore by using up all the crazyness at the start and getting more focused as u go along

6996130
I don't know the game so I would never write about it.

And I don't know if I'm gonna continue to write gore/horror. And if it would probably be something more tame, like maybe an original Fatal Frame crossover. I mean yes, Fatal Frame games have gore but they are normally very limited as to how graphic they are about it.

I just don't want to make promises I can't keep later so yeah. So far I just want to get that story that I've been working on for almost two years now done and maybe then I will think about new stuff. Everything I write until that story is finished is gonna be venting work, branching out, playing out some headcanons, stuff like that.

So if you're looking for a horror/gore author you will probably not find him in me. Again Welcome to Deadside and The Soul's Hunger were venting works, stuff I did to take my focuss off of the other story so I don't get dull.

6996179 Thanks, I'm glad I could provide you a pleasant read.

Hey one problem with this ive got the game u cant kill the killers untill u cross deadside with the living world

6999083

Michael can't since he can use his Shadow Man powers only in deadside, or during the night. The fight in Shiv's realm is during the night. He fights as Shadow Man.

6999145 ahhhh did not know that and well im thinking u said there was a seven year gap before raonbow meets twilight y dont umake a sequle detaling the 7 years and can i make a alternate sequle which if ok undos the events to this one but still has twilight go through deadside

6999612 I won't make a fic detailing the seven year gap since that would be a monster to conquer. Either that or it would be incredibly small since I'd just jump between incidents. So no, I won't write about the seven year gap.

And to the alternate story, well... if you want to. I mean I don't mind. Just credit me and link back to Welcome to Deadside.

7001015 i will and can i do the seven year gap in it if its ok

7001104 Well if you feel like doing so, hey go for it. Again, just credit me and link back to Welcome to Deadside.

I think this story would deserve more credit. I really enjoyed everything, from how it is writed to the characters...not to mention that Shadow Man was one of the game I liked the most in the past. Very well done :)

8842718
Thank you

But I think the story got as much credit as it deserved. :pinkiehappy:

And I'm glad that you liked my take on these characters.

8842956
I spent a good time reading all the story, from the first chapter to the last. You were able to nicely describe the scene in a way that allowed me to live again the atmosphere of the game.

Do you plan of writing another dark/horror story? I think you're pretty good.

8842979
I had many things planned which all ended up in nothing.

I rarely write. I usually do when I have found something that inspires me and right now.... not a lot does. So I'm pretty much just doing nothing. I can't say if I'll ever write another horror story again, since I'm bad at creating my own. This one had fixed parameters and rules which I could abide while writing it, after all it was set in a games world.

Right now I have enough troubles even starting to write. I have a story, something really big, and it's sitting there unfinished, taunting me, because I can't get it done the way I want. So it's been sitting there for.... 2 years? Maybe 3 now?

Yeah...

But I'm really glad to see that you liked my story that much.
