Counting by characters, ignoring spaces and paragraphs, this is the shortest I have found, and I checked all of the ones in the video.
The Shortest Shipfic on Fimfiction or Thank Someone for Punctuation would have been tied, but they used double apostrophes as quotations.

I would argue that by the rules of the competition (such as it was), the FimFic word counter was the arbitrator of who the victor was, and given Present Perfect’s response to my shorter (by word count) story and the fact that he literally punched me over it, I’d say I won overall.
That silence in Cygnus’ video is glorious, tho.

Well now you can rest easy, knowing that you have the shortest shipfic by word count or character count. I'm sure that otherwise you would lie awake at night, tormented over the fact that there was a way of measuring that you did not hold the title for shortest romance ever. Good luck keeping the title, though if they still haven't managed to get -1 words you're probably safe.

There was talk of finding some way to get a negative word count, but nobody was brave enough to try. It’s probably doable if someone knows how the backend works and knows an exploit.
