This doesn't seem like a bad idea, but it comes off feeling rushed. Like you're doing something that should had taken several chapters and put them all into one.
I believe this has potential, but needs some work.

Earlier in the story they got their food and he quickly ate half his fish and then all of a sudden you say that they have yet to receive their order and im like wut
