Equestria has fallen to the Caribou and has been plunged into a dark age of sexual slavery and wickedness. However, through the selfish actions of a young caribou mage something arrives to change everything. Or rather, someone arrives.
I like how you've made the Caribou a viable threat. Most stories like this make them out to be bumbling idiots, but you pictured Dainn as a true threat. I only hope in the future he actually wins something. Mind you, I want to see them routed as much as you, but a flawless victory is boring. Gotta have SOME tension, ya dig?
Ah man orthodox is awesome, I can't wait to see the shock of many in ponyville when he return to them with both bling and rulers, also it seen to me that Celestia has some side effects of having the collar on her for too long, wonder if she going to step in line when she wants the moron dead as well.
as grateful as the ponies are for the help let the Lead Researcher try and get samples from as he would most likely call them hybrids I cant see that going vary well.
Orthodox is still the best. I am the president of his fan club. (I wonder how he'd react to there being an Orthodox Fan Club. He'd probably swag around town about it.)
You know, I think it'd be a thing if Celestia's exposition to the collar's effects kept her mildly derpy for the rest of the fic. Nothing too serious or even demeaning, just a quirk for comedy's sake.
So this is the Fall of Equestria setting......shit, I know FIMfic has loose policies regarding content but holy fuck this makes Bureau look legit and reasonable in comparison. It also makes all those 'other' fics look tame.
*half-asleep rambling snipped*
Oh, and if Straken doesn't end up wearing a red bandana and her upper uniform isn't reduced to just a muscle shirt I'll be very disappointed.
I don't actually have an issue with the setting, but I can understand why other people don't. This all started because a reader of mine asked for it when I was throwing out fic ideas.
So, I get to pit the Caribou against sociopathic space-fascists, done deal.
It’s not like we’d have much of a choice without the Princesses
Except then they'd either kill you all for stabbing them in the back or they'd leave and let you wallow in crushing isolation as no other nation on your world would want anything to do with a country that was saved (in the most extreme of uses of the word) and then refused to give anything in return to their rescuers and/or had the gall to attack them. Then either some other nation would attack you while you're weak (because the ponies in the show strike me as already highly isolationist, so no one would care about them) or the Caribou would regroup and do it all over again (even easier the second time, probably). Then we'd be there and you'd be like "save us again, humanity!" and we'd be like "hell no!". It isn't a matter of doing good deeds expect a reward. It is about performing a costly (money and material wise) military action to save the ponies and then the ponies not helping make up for the expense despite it being their responsibility as the rescued.
Cruel?
What do you mean? The Caribou's actions has clearly classified them in the soldier's minds as "not people" so torturing and killing them isn't wrong at all. It'd be like stabbing a practice dummy. The same goes for anyone who attacks them. An enemy fighting you is merely a practice target that hits back and is capable of using tactics and strategies. Of course, that doesn't mean that you won't have difficulty maintaining that mindset after the fight and dwelling on it.
if they weren’t helping them, then the aliens would certainly be seen as equal if not greater to the Caribou in regards to evil actions.
Someone likes ignoring that they've done nothing that you and your comrades haven't. Not to mention, what evil actions? Then you claim that we enjoy killing just to try to make yourselves feel better about your own deeds.
We’ve already killed, and we’ll kill more.
Aren't you supposed to be soldiers? I know that wouldn't make you feel better, but you act like killing wasn't in the job description or something.
The lone attacker had set out to intercept them after the defeat of the first army, probably to gather intelligence about their numbers. Then, he creates a distraction and fools the moronic soldiers, sparking a chase through the forest. But the attacker never left, no, he snuck in and liberated the princesses, while stealing treasure to spite him. After that, he had set the forest on fire to delay pursit and possibly kill many soldiers. It was a harsh blow, but Dainn had to admit that it was a brilliant plan.
Sorry but it was just orthrodocks(did I get that right?)being himself
Italics went wild. You might wanna fix that.

I would call this story out about having it so that the good guys can't lose...
But I won't, because it feels immensely satisfying

I prefer Nigel, but this is still quite entertaining.

Elijah reminds me A LOT of a Tzimisce.
I like him.
why is that bit significant? Isn't this an anthro story?
If you were to choose between having dainn or sombra as an enemy which would you choose?
Personally if want dainn. He seems easy to mess with!
