I have a feeling nothing would be lost from this story were the main character a pegasus, earth pony or unicorn. Using alicorn OC's is just begging to get downbombed.

Not that I did, mind you.

Generally, using "famous" OCs such as Snowdrop or Nyx can be a good way to create a flakmagnet, this effect has actually been proven to be amplified through using an alicorn OC protagonist.
