The Cover art is actually an F-22 an F-35 has a single engine and is a lot smaller. Besides an F-16 is probably a better close range fighter the an F-35 (Except for the Desert Falcons) the F-35 needs stealth because just about any other fighter plane in service could defeat it.

3833936 well duh... The Joint strike fighter(F35) is a stealth and attack jet. It can attack ground units as well as air which means it isn't the best at either. The F-16 is purely designed for air to air combat so it's gonna so better.
3894306 The F-35 though cannot be seen a long range though that's why F-16 operators are replacing them with it because it can be seen from long range and would be massacred by the PAK-FA or the J-20 and j-31. It is sad that the F-16 is soon to be retired as I have actually seen them they are fantastic design. But we must move on with technology.
