It has been ten years since an unexplained explosion ripped the land apart and poisoned the air.
From the poison was born many hardships that brought out the worst in ponies.
What wasn't destroyed by the explosion was ravaged by the desperate struggle for survival ponies were thrown in as the fires still burned the once great cities.
Shortly after the riots ended and ponies were struggling to find some symbolism of order and leadership, the poison had seeped into the water, slowly turning ponies sick.
The sick lost their minds and soon turned to savage beasts with an insatiable blood lust and a tendency to swarm ponies in groups.
The ponies settlements needed most to survive had taken to wandering and seeking adventure or redemption in the wastes.
But life went on.

My description is a short prologue.
The actual story takes place a decade after all this in that time no one seems to use.
Seems these kinds of stories are always right as the world is dying, or long enough for several generations to make themselves comfortable and rebuild quite a bit.
Loosely based off of Fallout. Mostly things like the Sick being feral ghouls and poison being radiation.
Additional characters are present and may be more prominent, but I won't tag them until I'm sure.
I could also use a decent cover art and maybe a name that doesn't suck.
Pony names escape me.

Thats freaking amazing. I just started a fic based on humans annihilating themselves and equestria taking over the earth after the nuclear fire settled. Then I read this, dame thing, minus your not using a human in equestria, your using humans as a 'I blew up equestria' plot line! Pretty cool! I acctually hope you continue this, so far, its pretty coo.

The way I wrote this was closer to humans blowing themselves up > Equestria forming several hundred thousand years later by natural evolution and geographical shifts > Abandoned explosive of unspecified and fictional power goes off from age (Which is unlikely due to nuclear decay)
Don't know if that came across clearly, what with having to explain it from the ponies' limited knowledge.
But somewhere, there are a bunch of skeletons with massive raging trollfaces rolling around chanting, "U mad?"

Yea the way I wrote mine is the same minus the 'abandoned explosive suddenly becomes more explosive' bit. Instead a human assassin with enough foresight and a lot of money had himself sealed in a nigh indestructible bubble, and was awakened by Celestia trying to get in. But I was just doing a concept. Working through dozens of potentials currently.
You cancel a story, but end with the start of the next chapter? Such a tease! Very good characterisation. In a scenario like this though, it's pretty hard to keep completely with original characterisation but this was good. Brilliant work.
The whole colourful civilisation of ponies replacing humans is kinda like Adventure Time. Just saying.

300696 Another brilliant and colourful cartoon that appeals to all ages (In my opinion). The characters occasionally discuss "The Great Mushroom War" (Nukes) and along with the typical fantasy forests and mountains are pre-war ruins full of modern technology. It's like an extremely colourful and fantastical fallout with characters made of sweets and stuff. Sure that's more of a background deal and they go whole episodes without mentioning it but its pretty deep when you do realise it.

Figured I should take an extra step at notifying you since the tracking system got raped, my fic was reapproved during the down time, and only gained four views.
Chapter two will be worked on Monday afternoon. Today is pretty much booked. So is all of this weekend.
