I didn't feel writing an epilogue was necessary. The point, to me at least, is not what happened afterwards, but how the ponies reacted to the situation both before and after the removal of Button's mother. I wanted to write a story in which two perfectly happy ponies, who happen to engage in something many people consider wrong and immoral, get their lives ruined due to the opinions of others.
I'll keep your points in mind, though, as they are very valid. I will not write a sequel, mainly because I explored the scenario I wanted to, and I do not wish to go further than that.

I realize I just posted "I will not write a sequel", but never say never, I guess. It definitely has potential to be an interesting story.
I just don't feel quite comfortable writing "serious" stories yet. My main focus has been oneshot clopfics, so it's a challenge to do these. Maybe once I'm a better writer, I will.

and NO the first wasn't "My little dashie" honestly I dont see what all the hype was with that one.
I'm a man, I don't cry. The most saddest story I've read made me WANT to cry, I was crying on the inside.
This story though, I can't tell if it's because I'm up at 4 am or was your story that good, but there is a small tear building up on my left eye.

It's not bad, but it doesn't really feel like a complete story. There's a lot of things that seem to be left out. Like, wouldn't Sweetie Belle tell Rarity about Button getting beat up? She has a crush on him so surely she would have taken notice of something like that, and even if she didn't see it the other students must have surely been talking about it. How would Sweetie's reaction affect Rarity? We don't see Sweetie's reaction to anything at all. Not to mention how much Twilight's relationship with Rarity changed in the end.
It's not a bad story per se, it's got great emotional impact, it just feels like it's missing important parts of itself; like a rough draft more than a complete work.
this was a very good read. Thank you .I was going to pass it up until I noticed the " not clop" I felt through out the whole story what celestia said at the end. There where no good way for anypony to be happy. I felt bad for button and his mom( who really needs a name.) But what she did was very bad. Rarity did the right thing, but in a very wrong way. Button had no idea what he was doing was bad and lost everything. This was a very difficult subject, but was done so well. This story gets all my love keep writing what ever you enjoy. :)

I intended to focus primarily on Button and his mother, as that was the point of interest to me.
However, I can definitely see that in order to create a proper story, I'd have to flesh this out and incorporate more of the characters better.
