Author’s Note:
This is not a new entry in the Sisters of Chaos cycle. I asked myself a question: what if I told a story through the eyes of the fanatical acolyte introduced in Volume II — the priestess Angel, who ultimately led to war? What if we saw how Screwball once encountered a filly so utterly devoted that, in time, that very devotion would come back to strike her?
Angel Shores’ tale reaches further back than Meluś’s, though it isn’t exactly a prequel to the whole series. Well… not quite a prequel, but not a full one either.
I’ll let you in on this much: it was Sister Angel who found the most susceptible foals. :)
Acolyte of the Spiral — Angel’s Tale. Part I: Sisters of Chaos
They called me Angel, before I learned to say “we” instead of “I.” Screwball found me in a room that smelled of raspberries and promises, and named that scent home. She gave me a mask, a catechism, and a simple law: the first image is truth, the name is a knot, and laughter is the seal.
I learned the touch that does not pull, and the whispers that close the door between memory and desire. I guided Pearl — a unicorn whose heart was smooth as the gem she was named for — until she passed through three circles: infatuation, acceptance, binding. Her mask never leaked.
I also saw Meluś and Jelly: graceful in dance, weaker in silence. Cracks, half-beats, fractures in their laughter. I had none. During the “Legacy of Chaos,” Screwball showed us Discord. I did not waver. I only felt the branch of the spiral growing inside me. When three wizards entered the Gallery, I sealed two dream-bubbles with Pearl, and closed the third with formula before it could twitch. I was not seeking good or evil. I marked the result: the task was clean. That was my world — mirrors where obedience reflects.
The fall did not come from outside, but from our master’s lips. Screwball said that once she acted under Discord’s command, and that she was leaving the old methods behind. Words meant to be light fell on me like a shadow. To me, it was betrayal — not only of the filly who had named me, but of the rule stretched above us. I felt orphaned, not by lack of a mother, but by the unraveling of the law.
So I left in silence, carrying the rituals in the state I called true. I folded names into laughter and carried them where her spirals could no longer reach.
A hundred years had passed, but they felt like thousands for Celestia. With her precious little sister banished to the moon, causing pain to fill her heart every day since. But the mystery of the disappearing captured villains that are locked away caught her attention. She decides to look into it, in case whatever is going on decides to take Luna. Though she seems to be the only one looking into it, to her knowledge. Little did she know, one of her new royal guards, Dark Snow, was looking into it. But for more personal reasons, and a bit out of duty, he just wants to see his love again.
Urist was a simple dwarf. He woke up, ate a mushroom biscuit, had a pint, then journeyed into the depths of the mines of his mountain home. Day in and day out, excavating boulder after boulder, stone after stone, ore after ore. Life was simple. Life was good. Life was a honest hard day's work under the mountain.
One day, however, he finds something better left buried. Stumbling into a seemingly bottomless pit, Urist found everything changed when he landed... somewhere else.
Now with holed hooves and an equine body, the dwarf-turned-changeling has to figure out life on the surface - his new life, not as a bearded creature of drink and industry, but as a shapeshifting love vampire. At least he can still dig well.
If only these talking horses would stop shouting and running away from him, anyways...
Urist is very heavily inspired by Dwarf Fortress, among other dwarf-containing media.
Story starts pre-Canterlot Wedding.

Velvet Starscout has the most exciting news to share with her daughter and the rest of the Mane 6-- according to ancient Equestrian texts, ponies from Twilight Sparkle and the Guardian of Harmony’s time had an alliance with actual fairies, who could be assigned to human kids in order to make their every wish come true as their fairy godparents. But after Equestria lost its magic, the ponies and fairies fell apart from each other, making Velvet and the Mane 6 wonder if there’s a way they can repair ties with their long-lost fairy allies.
Luckily, the ponies get their chance when the Unity Crystals summon the Mane 6 and Velvet to the town of Dimmsdale, California, where they meet 10-year-old Timmy Turner, who has his own fairy godparents, Cosmo and Wanda, and his alebrije guardian, Calysta, for a thrilling adventure.
It’s officially time for Timmy’s fairy-versary, which celebrates him having his fairy godparents for one year. Cosmo and Wanda decide to throw him a huge party to celebrate, and Velvet, the Mane 6, Calysta’s mother, Sable, her three sisters (Beryl, Hadley and Giselle) and every magical creature Timmy has ever encountered are in attendance, and head fairy Jorgen Von Strangle is there too, with Timmy's most special gift-- a fairy-versary muffin, which allows the person who eats it to be granted a rule-free wish!
But, little do our heroes realize it, but trouble is lurking not too far away. Mr. Crocker, Timmy’s fairy-hunting teacher, will stop at nothing to capture a fairy and become Supreme Magical Ruler of the Universe. And that just might happen when the fairy-versary muffin falls into the wrong hands, over and over, eventually landing in Mr. Crocker’s possession!
Now, it’s up to the Mane 6 and Velvet to help Timmy, Calysta and Calysta’s family stop Mr. Crocker and his evil before Mr. Crocker takes over the Earth and decides to invade Equestria, which would cause a multi-world abra-catastrophe! But will our heroes succeed in time?
