BOLD, ITALICS, CAPS EXTRAVAGANZA! · 7:40pm Sep 15th, 2016

Heya everyone!

Just a quick head's up that I went back and retolled the formatting and caps for Out of Space. A got enough comments that I figured this warranted some attention.

Other than that, any changes where super minor. Hopefully it all went through without messing the formatting in other places.

I'm glad this story has been so well received! Thanks to you all for helping this get featured!

Catch ya in the comments!

Chapter Seven. · 2:11am Feb 18th, 2017

This chapter is an interesting one.

Well, why that is I leave that to you all.

In any case here is a link the Gdoc for this chapter for improved formatting.

Question about changelings - Exercise in Management chapters. · 12:17pm Feb 26th, 2018

I've asked this question once before in regards to a different story, but here goes:

What chapter format suits you better for Exercise in Management?
1) Short chapters (1-1,5k words)
- little bits easier to read similar to Hard to Find the Right Words, but may lack detail or broader context since I'm historically not good enough to squeeze it in.
- weekly updates will be possible sooner, I think.
- might be more funny bits than straight up story.
2) Longer chapters (2,5-5k words)

Special characters · 1:33am Jun 28th, 2015

"...That's it?!"

“…That's it⁈”

I noticed some people use characters that aren't easy to type on a normal keyboard. Recently I started using the special quotation marks through key combos on my keyboard because they look better, but I haven't started using the ellipses character except in the one chapter title.

Do you use these special characters? If so, why, how and when do you use them?

I Miss the Rainbow Dash Theme · 8:22am Oct 25th, 2021

I miss the Rainbow Dash color theme (& the princess themes to a lesser extent).

The different color every paragraph made reading much easier for me.

To Double Space or Not to Double Space · 7:35am Apr 22nd, 2017

I've been writing my first story here on the site. Though, there has been one thing that has been plaguing my thoughts. Should I be double spacing my paragraphs or not? :rainbowhuh:

New Site Format · 6:33am Jun 24th, 2017

Okay, I'm ready to hate the site changes now.
While I'm entering a new chapter, they have a special window to bug me about double-spacing and/or indenting the paragraphs now. I've always done the latter; I use double-spaces to mark minor breaks within a scene rather than spacing an entire chapter.
Except that when I did that this time, the site automatically flattened out the indenting, double-spaced everything, and then ignored my own double spacing.

Equestrian Fanfiction · 8:44pm Dec 31st, 2016

Hi all!

For those who follow my daily silliness (Equestrian Fanfiction) I have a big question for you to decide. I've done a test coloured version of chapter one. Do you think it's better, or is no formatting more legible? (I'm on tablet, so the girmatting takes a little time :( )

In addition, if anyone knows a way to have the quote box change colour, let me know! (I think that version would me most readable).

Thank you again, and enjoy the start of 2017!

If you're anything like me, when you see a story (completed or not) that looks interesting but is incredibly long, you stick it in your "Read it Later" queue, eventually download it for your e-reader when you've got time to kill, read it, and are either impressed by its plot and character arcs and worldbuilding, or disappointed because the pacing is glacial and a ten thousand word chapter can be nothing more than, "Cool train, innit?" (I AM NOT MAKING THAT UP OR EXAGGERATING.) But

Truth, Lies and Adorable Apples · 3:10pm Jun 8th, 2017

Flim, Flam, and the Little Lost Apple Scam is now complete, and quite appropriately on a day which the lies will be piling up in vast numbers both in the US and Europe (live breathless coverage of the Comey testimony and British elections), thus giving you something soothing and comfortable to read while the television talking heads all declare the end of civilization as we know it.  And as appropriate

A ticklish Pegasus has been polished up a bit · 9:51pm Mar 1st, 2020

Being new to writing my style was a bit all over the place, random new lines and proper paragraphs being intermittent.
But after getting some helpful advice from other writers, (you know who you are, thanks a bunch!) I have got it more organised, I will be doing the same to all my other stories, I will say here when that takes place as well as on the description of the story itself.

Hope you like the improvements and enjoy anything new I come up with in the future!

FimFiction formatting attempted to destroy my latest chapter of TD&HD · 4:50pm Feb 8th, 2016

Apologies to anyone who slogged through the latest chapter of The Destroyer and Her Doctor. You're a champ for putting up with all that. That'll teach me to update something right before I go to bed.

I cleared out the weird bold and centering woes. Just the joys of importing from GDocs. Also cleared up some name confusion.

Mo' Formats, Mo' Problems · 5:17am Dec 7th, 2018

So I think it's about time I get serious about standardizing the writing formats in my works.
I write and read fine with my stories single-spaced with an extra paragraph marker for every scene break, but apparently a lot of my readers hate that. Okay.
The issue is that FIMfiction has been getting worse and worse with its in-browser editor. Or maybe it's fine and I'm just using garbage word processors. I don't know.

Trying Something New · 9:26pm Aug 17th, 2016

I have recently undertaking the project of rewriting an older novel of mine which was a rewrite of a fanfiction I did. It's been interesting so far and has come out very different during this iteration of writing it. There were various issues with the original rewrite that needed addressed on the larger scale, plus I am testing out a new writing style for a novel. I have so far dubbed it the Episodic Format.

An Alert for Starforge Readers – If You’re Seeing Odd Formatting Or the Like … · 6:14am Mar 5th, 2023

Hey folks. Max here with a heads-up about Starforge. That big finale for the UNSEC Space Trilogy.

Well, it appears that it might be a bit … large. And this has led to some issues for some readers.

Okay, let me lay it out to you. Ereaders are not complicated programs. In fact, they’re quite simple. But this can mean that as you progress through a very large book, your reader of choice may start experiencing … oddities.

In an attempt to change my Nintendo ID username, I have completely formatted everything on my 3DS. All my memories, all my friends, and all my downloads gone in an instant. I've since deleted the new ID and continued using my original one, but it a sudden burst of stupidity, I believed this was the best way to go and I failed every step of the way.

Am I mad? Yes.

But will I allow this to get to me? No.

New chapter, chapter formats, and release schedule · 6:45pm May 14th, 2020

Hey everyone!

So after some debating with a few others I've decided to amend my update schedule. Things are just so unpredictable, and it's hard to get anything done at all. And the feedback I've gotten has been pretty definitive that the worst part of it is the 'not knowing' aspect. That, even with the regular assurances, there's still the worry that I'm going to abandon the project. Because so many others have in the past, especially with the end of show / new gen cycle.

"Reaping Rainbow" - Two Quick Notes · 8:03pm Mar 3rd, 2019

Hey folks! Two quick things about my latest story. First, thanks for helping it make the Featured list! :yay:

Second, it seems some folks are having trouble with the text-to-speech function due to Death's use of SmallCap text for dialogue. I can't really go back and rework it, but I'm sure you can find an alternative way. Still, my apologies for any inconvenience. :ajsleepy:
