The journey that the two undertake to hunt down and destroy this threat to their house is fraught with danger and unimaginable horrors. Can the brash lieutenant and the harsh Inquisitor put aside their differences and stop the Last Laugh, or will the madness of the Cult of Laughter be too much for these two soldiers to handle?

Nighthooves under the service of House Whitegold found a diary in the aftermath of a Zebra and Everfree incursion against an Earthborn outpost near the southern edge of the Everfree Forest. While it was determined that the diary held little information of value to the House, the pony who discovered it found its contents interesting.

Said contents are detailed below.

In the city of East Manetin, a new checkpoint opens up to allow immigration to Arstrotzka, a pony region who won its independence from Gryphonia in the Six Year War, with help from Equestria. To man this post, Princess Twilight Sparkle, Temporary Governor of Arstrotzka, has assigned a small time East Manetin labor worker as the customs inspector of the checkpoint. It seems like a boring job, a simple paper pusher in a city torn by nationalism. However, as the inspector will soon find out, his job will be anything but uninteresting, as he gets involved in something many times bigger than verifying documents. And it all begins with a simple sentence.

Arstrotzkan Glory Counter: 14

The Everfree Forest has long laid dormant since its cursed trees ever appeared in the slowly defrosting remains of Old Equestria. Yet, in recent years, the forest has almost doubled in size, slowly covering Equestria in its thorny grasp and endangering several settlements of the House Earthborn. General Applejack, suspecting the work of the House Everfree, sends a strike force, under the command of her own brother, Big Macintosh, or, "the Guardian" to his troops, to drive the forest back in a tide of flame. However, Mistress Fluttershy of the House Everfree feels offense at these movements, and begins to make a military movement of her own...
