Before Sombra was king, an infamous tyrant that ruled over the Crystal Empire until his downfall, he was a scholar. Under the rule of the King and Queen of the crystal empire he worked endlessly as a way to prove himself in the eyes of those who looked down upon him. He only needed to find the missing key to allow Earth ponies like himself to be able to wield magic on par or better than a unicorn could. But his quest for power brought about an unexpected meeting with a young mare. She is unlike anyone he had ever met before. Sombra wants to build a better world for her, one where society cannot dictate what they know is right.
Yet one must tread carefully along the road between power and love. For a single misstep can lead to an endless world of darkness.

Fluttershy had always had a difficult time keeping secrets. While she had gotten better there was one she swore she would never tell after she was bullied for telling people when she was just a child. But when her secret dream comes knocking on her door it seems too good to be true. Now Fluttershy must make an impossible choice. To stay in the world she has always known or to enter the one she never thought possible. Though she may have not had a choice to begin with.

In S9, After King Sombra's horn was found in the Crystal Empire, the princesses have decided to resurrect him and reform him. The pony to reform him will be none other than... Fluttershy! But what will happen when our yellow pegasus learns more about the evil king? When he gets his strength back, he is ready to attack the crystal empire, but will he?

After a terrible storm sweeps through the Everfree, Fluttershy finds the weakened but still powerful King Sombra on her doorstep. Unable to resist his dark magic, she finds herself trapped by a spell that forces her to aid him, protect him, and heal him until he is strong once more, all while keeping his revival a secret from her friends. Unwilling to risk bringing her friends into the situation and endanger them, Fluttershy decides on a riskier tactic

If she could reform Discord, why not the Tyrant of the Crystal Empire. After all, with his spell keeping her from betraying his presence, it might be her only hope. Can she kill the Dark King with Kindness? Or will the ancient sorcerer once more stretch his shadow across Equestria?

It wasn't long after Sombra's defeat that he was found in the outskirts of the frozen north, regenerated from his dismembered horn, but too weak to do anything more than stay in hiding and hope to make a full recovery. Princess Celestia was swiftly alerted of his re-appearance, and the dethroned king was dragged away from the north to be kept prisoner in the Canterlot Castle.

After weeks of planning, the princess called Fluttershy to Canterlot and bestowed upon her the task of reforming yet another foe. If there was anypony who could have some influence on such a vile overlord, it was her.

Fluttershy, however, wasn't nearly as certain of herself. Discord was so much different; he was so much easier. Back then, she had the elements of harmony at her disposal. but now, living in the Canterlot Castle with not a fellow element for miles, King Sombra was an entirely different story.
