Granted the Community Choice award in the Everfree Northwest 2015 Pre-Con Writing Contest.

Starlight Glimmer's defeat at the hooves of Princess Twilight Sparkle and her friends leaves the mare wandering the caverns and mountains, escaping from her failure of creating the perfect society.

And yet there is somepony she cannot run away from. Somepony who keeps her awake at night, who follows her no matter where she is headed, who does not want to leave her alone despite her best efforts.

Herself.

Celestia has lived for countless centuries. Looking over Equestria like a caring mother and tending to the needs of even the smallest of creatures. But now her time grows near. As she looks down upon Canterlot one evening, she has an unexpected visitor - a small, exuberant filly.

Her name is Death.

She is the light in the darkness. The giver to the poor. The strength to the weak.

She is Scootaloo, the orphan that Ponyville deserves.

And no swarm of evil will ever stop her from doing her duty.

Despite similarities, this story is not related to The Magic of Orphan Cookies.

After Tirek's onslaught, chaos magic and pony magic had mingled. Discord is able to use both order and chaos; however, he loses what is left of his memories. He will calibrate the magic in exchange for Fluttershy. Fluttershy works hard as his maid, but is plagued by dreams of past events. Will Discord accept her friendship a second time, or will Discord sit idly believing friendship is tragic?

Discord couldn't understand how someone so brave could think that they were nothing but a scaredy-cat.

Lately, Discord had taken up gardening.

It was, admittedly, an unexpected hobby for the spirit of chaos and disharmony to pick up. But he'd easily justified it to himself--and everypony else who dared question--with the answer that chaos is being unexpected, and that true chaos is doing things that no one would have guessed, and so he was living perfectly up to his own nature.

He had created six unique varieties of flowers; they were completely unique to his little garden. Nowhere else in Equestria did one grow.

Pinkie Pie uses firepower to break the fourth wall and make new friends.
