TheLostNarrator's newest reading is Branded Penguin's WWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOO, with MagpiePony! Also, Branded Penguin has been banned at some point since I read that story. :B
Current slate of audiobooks is going slowly, so have some minifics! It's been a while.

It Could Be Worse by Cold in Gardez
Genre: Random Comedy
Twilight's first mistake was conducting field botany in the Everfree Forest.
This is hardly 'mini'! It's also plain nutty. Twilight eats some Poison Joke berries, and CiG reminds us that repeating gags from the show isn't nearly as funny as coming up with something new, so she freaks out and runs off into the forest, hallucinating her worst fears the whole way. It was good, clean, season two fun, and I approve.

In Another Life by Esle Ynopemos
Genre: Dark AU
This one is mini, giving us just enough to sink our teeth into. A quick look into an Equestria still divided along tribal lines, and two warlords spending their final moments together. I kind of wished it was a little longer, but I still like it for what it is.

The Lighting of the Log by Nonagon
Genre: Comedy
Bite-sized as always, this was a perfectly timed joke. Like, if you want to find out how to construct and execute a joke in the middle of a scene, this is that but without the scene.

Fleur de Lis attends to her Empress after a long day at court.
I don't know if there's anything particularly necessary about Fleur being in this story, but as a "Cadence ends up with a mare instead of Shining Armor" ship, it was pretty convincing. Super cute and a little risque.

Twilight learns something shocking about her mentor.
I wasn't sure where this fluffy conversation between Twilight and Celestia was going to go, but I liked the eventual answer. I really want this to be a chapter one, because it could be!

Trust FOME to write something like this and make it far from dry. It comes off as a perfectly in-universe history report… with a hilarious ending. I did not see that one coming. XD

Celestia knows how to delegate.
This one's all about the punchline, which is to say, the why behind the obvious punchline in title. It's been long enough that I don't remember the original story (Biscuit had to remind me about it), but this is still amusing regardless.

Upon Retiring for the Evening by AugieDog

Yet another excellent poem from AugieDog! A really complex form, a surprising amount of variation in rhyme considering it's mostly one sound, and a good little piece about Celestia. What more can you ask for?

Twilight and Rainbow Dash relax on the beach.
Man, it's been a while since I read TwiDash this cute. Argh! I want more! D: My only question is whether or not Rarity and AJ are also a thing here.

Fluttershy takes her marefriend to meet her father.
This is of course way before we ever met Mr. and Mrs. Shy. And it's exactly what I wanted out of a Fluttershy parent. Loud, overbearing, the way he treats her is ghastly, and the fact that he's a famous flyer and she's dating Rainbow Dash only makes it better. I did feel like the ending was a little rushed, but hey, these are minifics, not masterpieces.

You Put THAT in Your Deck? by QueenMoriarty
Genre: Magic: The Gathering Crossover/Comedy?
I had zero clue about this one. A bunch of planeswalkers (I know the word, but little besides) mock one of their number for knowing who Princess Celestia is, then prepare to fight the same. Meanwhile, Twilight and Applejack try to make friends with a dragon. Twilight summons an elder thing for some reason. Actually, the funniest part of this was the author's note, at least to me. I guess this is a deep lore cut.

Shame and Cupcakes by ObabScribbler
Genre: Episode Followup/Light Shipping
It took me a while to realize this picks up right after Hurricane Fluttershy. Makes sense, though, since I don't think Shy and Spitfire have any other interactions of note. The shipping is almost nonexistent, but this is still a good short character interaction piece.

Ditzy Doo helps Fluttershy with some fish.
The whole time I read this, I was waiting to see if it was building up to a punchline. And if it was, well, I don't get it. Regardless, what I got was a very good story about Derpy, and everyone likes Derpy! D-don't you? :(

What if Jack Vance Wrote MLP:FIM? by GroaningGreyAgony
Genre: Parody
Unfortunately, I've never read Jack Vance before, so to me this just looks like "what if a scene from the pilot episode was written in needlessly flowery prose?" And like… Twilight and Spike made needless commentary about everything that's happening, as it happens. I'm sure someone will find this hilarious, regardless.

Twilight and her friends help Princess Luna overcome her demons.
You gotta love stories where Twilight's excitement over doing a new spell outweighs any caution she might normally possess. Also, what happens to Nightmare Moon was not something I saw coming.

This is operating on so many layers, I can't even tell if it's offensive or not. @_@ Regardless, I don't think it's helpful? I was highly amused by everything Femanon does being called "female" though.

Applejack has issues with a certain relative.
I have to wonder: why not just use Tree Hugger? Maybe she's not entirely on the nose for a stoner character? Well, regardless, this paints a strong picture of the Apple Family.

Well, this does bill itself as a story snippet. It feels like scenes from two completely unrelated stories, however. At least the second one is funny.

Pound Cake returns home.
Wanna read two thousand words of the Cake Twins reuniting after being estranged for years and being unable to fix their broken lives or what broke them? Look no further. This was a great piece, from three different POVs, with strong writing and excellent characters, and that punchline hits like a ton of bricks. Really devestating, I loved it.

I'm not sure if it's Oversaturated World this reminds me of, but this is definitely not the first story about this thing that I've read. It's basically just a bunch of headcanon, but it's presented in an interesting way at least.

Zombie Dance by Not_A_Hat
Genre: Displaced Deconstruction
It took me rather a while to figure out what the "cosplay stuff" the author's note talked about was. This must have been written right in the middle of the phenomenon, then! I'm not sure if "deconstruction" is the right word, but basically, he's taken the setup and written an actual character into it instead of… whatever usually happens in Displaced fics. That said, this is basically just the "wake up in Equestria, wonder what's going on" introductory scene. The way our narrator works with his own memory was kind of interesting, but it doesn't really go anywhere. Works as a proof of concept.

Ah, I remember those days. I (and other unindicted co-conspirators) incited Estee into writing Fluttershy Gets Replaced by a Sherman Tank soon after.
Oversaturation does open with the girls needing to talk to Sunset about their new spontaneous tattoos, so I can definitely see how the Moth short would bring that to mind.
And I liked the name Locoweed too much to just use Tree Hugger. So there.
I’m pretty sure they asked the mods to ban them on purpose.

I still feel my dumb transformation/replacement story had the funniest cover art, and I’m sad it didn’t get more attention.
