So! It was a good thing I went ahead and did that Easter egg contest when I did, because about a week later the folks who own the IP that inspired The Purloined Pony -- that is to say, the folks who own the IP that I meticulously copied in exacting detail to produce the book -- got in touch to very politely say, "Hey, so... could you please not do that? If you could just go ahead and, uh... not do that any more, that would be really great." *
After I took a moment to appreciate the compliment of being told that I, legally speaking, did too good a job paying homage to a classic book series, I pulled the original edition of TPP and went back to the drawing board. It was actually pretty fun redesigning TPP's cover and tweaking the interior to remove the trademarks I don't actually own.
Didn't mind the excuse to give Zecora's hut the full color treatment, either.
If you already own a copy of The Purloined Pony, I guess it's now something of a collector's edition! Hang on to that, especially if you picked up one of the signed copies at Bronycon. If you don't already own a copy, well, read on...
To celebrate Ponyfeather Publishing surviving its first C&D, the restoration of The Purloined Pony to the PFP website, and -- why not -- the end of the show that brought us all together, I'm running another giveaway: three folks chosen at random will receive a free copy of the new edition of The Purloined Pony.
- If you want to enter, comment below in some way that makes it clear you're entering the random drawing -- "I'm entering the random drawing!" or some variation on that theme would work nicely.
- Current and upcoming PFP authors (you know who you are) and my friends aren't eligible to enter. I want to spread the love around. (If one of you comments, that's fine! I'll just ignore it when it comes time to draw names.

- I'll reach out to the winners via FIMFiction private message on or around October 22st; if a winner does not respond with their mailing address** within a week, their prize is forfeit and I'll draw a new winner to replace them.

*Seriously, they were very chill about it. I'm grateful that they didn't come at me at full lawyer-power and destroy PFP; they're just protecting their trademarks, as they must do in our legal system if they don't want to lose control of it. Please nobody go bitching at them.

The Purloined Pony is such a great boo. I have really enjoyed reading my copy. So since I already own a book I would make it to a gift to samone else if I win.
It is good to hear that the whole was so easy sorted out. It would be pretty sad to see PFP go. It is so great being able to buy books for such little money.
The Purloined Pony is easily the best price-performance ratio which I have ever bought in the fandom. Thought one little said thing happened with the relaunch. My review of the the book on Lulu was deleted.

At first I was surprised that they're still using that trademark??
Then I looked into it a little, and it's not that they're writing new books, but using that famous design for nostalgia products. That makes sense now.

I know the feel. I have three The Celestia Code's, and all three of them have a different font. I originally bought two because there was a good deal on Lulu and then I could give one away, but now they're like special.
