State of the Writer: May 2024!

    Didn't write nothing! clapping emoji!

My surgery was on the 22nd, and it went well, I'm still in recovery for technically the next week and a half or so, but as of this week I'm already feeling back to normal. Which I have to keep reminding myself I am not, lest I overdo something and hurt myself. <_< I am at least following the discharge instructions, so no worries about that.

    PP vs. What I've Become

Knight Breeze's What I've Become might not be a name you've heard before, but given its stats, especially the over 60,000 views, I feel safe calling it a fandom classic. :) Major spoilers ahead for a ten-year-old story!

Fic recs, May 20th: Project Get! #17!

Hey! :D Welcome back to Project Get!, where I sort my RIL by views and grab the last 10 on the list that aren't sequels, unfinished, or by the same author twice! I've been trying to do this a lot more frequently, but 'frequent' has not exactly described these blogs out of me, has it? D: I dunno if that could change in the near future. I've got outpatient surgery on Wednesday this week, so I'm

Every day, I log onto Fimfiction to find Twilight the Useless is still in the wackybox and we have moved further away from god.

This is where I start feeling honestly a little impostor syndromey, if only because I don't think it would have lasted this long without the controversy. Which is highly ironic, and somewhat amusing, and hence why I only feel that feeling a little. (But seriously, I thought you couldn't go longer than four days at a time.)

I just wanted to point out, Twilight the Useless currently has more views than my last five stories combined. <.< And if I add in Tempest Poppins, story number six, the total view count ends up topping it by a mere 211. TtU by itself has beaten out Sunset Is Dead, my last story to get over 3k views.

It's weird and I don't get it. :B

All of this is to say, don't hold your breath for a sequel because while I appreciate the attention this story has gotten, I have no idea what one would look like without being monumentally stupider. :C

Dear Princess Sunbutt and its companion piece are experiencing more traffic than I thought was possible given Fimfic's remaining user base. Funny, stupid stuff is always appealing.

Hey dude imma just say even if ya make a sequel its YOUR story you right either way so who cares if it's dumb?
Id just like a sequel so I can have more laughs :rainbowlaugh:
I've honestly would've read a sequel if ya made one lol. Especially Ticket Master XD that would be hilarious bc if im correct Twi would've tried to figure who to give it to so she can bang em at the party lol.
So I say you do you. Either way, your true fans like me will like your stuff either way.:ajsmug:
So my good man have a mustache and Write like the wind! :moustache:

I hope that at least a small portion stays for a while, I want to see the creativity with the stories that take place after season 9.

I know what you mean. It's always a bit weird when a story you regarded as a fun little jaunt suddenly explodes in popularity. My most viewed story is a one-shot that I like okay, but don't consider even close to my best work. I think there are a few things that launch a story to high popularity regardless of content, though:

  1. A simple premise that's easy to dive into and catchy
  2. A really good piece of cover art
  3. Relatively short length (one-shots in general)

"Twilight the Useless" has all of that in spades. It also helps that you've got a lot of followers, which always helps give a story an initial boost that gives it time for more and more people to notice it.

None of which means that the story isn't good, mind you. I just read it, and it's hilarious. I'd just smile and nod and go along for the ride, for the whims of the masses are fickle and chaotic. :twilightsheepish:

I have no idea what one would look like without being monumentally stupider. :C

Isn't that kinda the idea? The whole thing is wonderfully stupid and hilarious in the best possible way, I'd love for it to continue

I do agree it's totally bonkers how long it's been on the feature box though :rainbowderp:

In my excuse as a person who read it at least five times: It's cute!
That is all.

They're probably helped along by the format. Daily updates, daily traffic. The fact that they encourage readers to click back and forth between the two stories likely helps with the heat rating, too.

Also, dat feeling when you get Magnum Opus Dissonance. :twilightoops:

Oh, whew; that's relieving to hear. :twilightsheepish:

Sometimes, when you hit gold, all you'll know is that you dug a hole and found it.

Also, as much as I'd like to see a sequel, don't feel forced to do one. However, I will continue to hold hope in my heart regardless.

I mean, here's the three routes that come to me:

1) Continue right where it left off, with her friends' reactions. Spoilers, out of all of them Rainbow Dash is the most dtf.

2) Rewrite season one (because fuck me, I wouldn't want to do the entire goddamn show) from Twilight's horny, horny POV.

3) Continue the single joke and apply it to villains, other major side characters, etc. Granted, I'm not sure you can be a useless disaster lesbian if you're bi.

None of these really entice me, suffice to say. :B

Funny things are appealing, yes, but that doesn't explain why two sister piles of stale-ass memes were in the featured box for so long.

If it's any consolation, I didn't think Twilight the Useless was more than mildly interesting and I enjoyed Tempest Poppins far more :raritywink:

Well, thank you for getting me to go back and look at the story's comment section again. That was almost as entertaining as a sequel would be.

Yeah, this sounds right to me. My two most popular stories also had all of these.

The approval queue being wonky lately is also probably helping. The feature box had been pretty static for days.

I have no idea what one would look like without being monumentally stupider.

As if that is going to be a problem.

The point of it was to be stupid and silly, so saying the followup would be monumentally stupider isn't a drawback.

Comments where someone wanted to turn the Featured Box into a Marksist utopia where quality is irrelevant. There's a reason that "utopia" doesn't actually translate to "good place" but instead is a homonym that translates to "no place"...

Quality's already irrelevant in the feature box. It's usually just a soup of porn and random crossovers.
