It is official that Broken Bindings, my experimental and frustratingly difficult to create story, has been inducted into the Royal Canterlot Library. It is now recognized among the best MLP fanfics of all time, and that's pretty damn cool, and I'm very happy about it. Some of you might have already seen, but they did an interview with me about my writing as well as Broken Bindings in particular, and that's now posted to the site.

How do you get a story into the Royal Canterlot Library anyway? I tried adding a story of my own, but the action wasn't permitted. Do you have to PM one of the curators and request a review? Or do they have to stumble across it first?

One of them has to nominate it, then ALL of the curators have to review it, and pretty much every one of them has to say it deserves to be there. Less that 500 stories have been inducted into it. Ever.
The most you can do is have a friend recommend it in their fimfic group. Other than that, it's a very VERY difficult process, and I take it as a huge honor.
Edit: Not ALL the curators HAVE to read it, my bad. :(

anonpencil pretty much covered it. I will say that it isn't actually true that every curator reads every fic; depending on how the voting goes, it may not be necessary, but we try.
We don't take self-submissions, because almost nobody is capable of being impartial about their own work. People can suggest stories written by other authors in our recommendation thread. Our only hard-and-fast requirement is that the story be Complete.

Oof, that felt weird. I still sort of feel like an RCL imposter; I only joined the team a few months ago. (Broken Bindings is actually only my second nomination ever, and the first that was voted in by the others!)
Briefly, the idea is that every curator assigns a nomination a score from -1 to 2: -1 if they're actively against featuring it, 0 if they're ambivalent, 1 if they want to feature it, 2 if they think we must feature it. (-1s and 2s are rare.) The nominator's score is an automatic 1. If a fic's total score passes a certain threshold, its nomination is accepted, and someone writes up the interview and invites the author.
