    I wrote a thing.

Not pony. An angsty Satoko/Rika fic, from the franchise Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni.

The fandom overlap here is probably vanishingly small, but maybe someone will be interested.

New Owl House Story: Something to Share

I wrote a new story, as part of a Christmas fic exchange, for my good friend R5h.

Luz shares an important place with Amity; memories both playful and painful.

Amity learns from the past and mends something broken.

It's the best date they've been on yet.

    It can be found here.

We're halfway through the Sunset shipping contest, and we have 7 entries so far. You should absolutely go check them out!

How are your own stories coming along?

If you need help, someone to edit, to bounce ideas off of, whatever, you can always try the fimfiction discord. It can be a bit unruly times, but a lot of the regulars are also working on stories for the contest, and may be willing to give you a hand.

Also, I may have started writing my own vanity contest entry for shits and giggles, so expect that in a week or two when I stop being lazy and finish it.

Good luck writing! I'm really looking forward to reading all of your hard work.

Still outlining

I’ve written my entry. It’s all set and ready to go. But, as is always the case nowadays, I’m waiting to see if the artist for my desired cover art will give me the go ahead to use it. It’s been about a week since I asked. If another goes by without them saying anything, I’ll assume they don’t care/aren’t around anymore and use it anyway, but I like to give them that chance to say no.

Slowly, like glacial molasses. Work's had me too tired to think much, but that ought to mellow out after tomorrow.

Fleshing out the outline. Which involves dialogue skeletons, so I suppose it's more a "putting ribs on the spine" situation.

Also, looks like someone's already used my pairing... though not nearly as much of my concept as I'd feared. Well, we'll see how this goes.

Waiting for my second pre-reader to give her verdict and then it will sail!

I've had pretty much the ultimate crackship idea for a fic. Like you have no idea. :derpytongue2:

The sad thing is that it's probably not going to get written, at least not this month. I'm full up on hobby time, with a more-than-flirtatious dip back into Warhammer 40k, plus a couple of existing stories in desperate need of editing. I'm also grappling a bit with all the "fandom is dying" nonsense that everyone is throwing around... it makes me want to go back and finish up old stories before starting new ones.

But who knows. The Real Ultimate Crackship may yet sail...

About a thousand words in

Shit, I totally forgot to join the contest. I must try to get in on this bad boy if I have time at all

Only if you say 'do it' again with a picture of Emperor Palpitate :ajsmug:

About 3k into the first draft, still in that awkward phase between "is this a good idea" and "do it anyway".

Now that's the ticket! Consider it done

I wrote 90% of a first draft then realised it wasn’t working. So I started again with an entirely different story but using all the same themes, characters, setting etc from the first.

Managed 1000 words of it in a day. That’s the most I’ve written in a day for over a year!

I'm really, really behind schedule. I finished creating a basic three-dimensional outline for the AU version of the Sunset and Twilight, and I still need to finish biographies for them, write a necessarily short outline for the antagonist/s, write a stepsheet, make sure the events flow organically, write the full story (which will likely be near or over 10k words), get a (hopefully) good editor, and edit/revise it together, then polish it until August 30th or maybe the 31st if I even have enough time and then publish it every few/several hours...I'm getting flashbacks to the last contest when I only worked on it in the last few days and had two sleepless nights. I may even stay up all night tonight to finish the biographies. 😩
I'm sure the end result and the moments when I'm in maximum overdrive writer mode will make up for it though.

I just stumbled across this contest yesterday, so I'm still ironing out an idea. Trying to work out the logistics of a twist I have in mind without making it feel overly contrived... yeah, I might give that Discord a try, or at least the forums on FIMfiction.

Good luck, everybody! Finishing a story is better than sitting around (which I've been doing too much of, so trust the expert on this one)!

I'm still aiming to have the story submitted by the 30th-31st, but it's going to be close. I've tried asking for editors on the Fimfiction groups and not got any answers so far, so I guess I may have to head over to the Discord.

I'm really glad you ran the contest because I'm having a load of fun writing
