- Hey, we finally got an EG opening!
- This one opens with a song! And a montage of Sunset Shimmer reflecting on her past, with clips from the first four movies interspliced with the girls working on the school yearbook.
- Creepy seaweed girl! Obvious villain!
- Wallflower Blush is one of those "nobody remembers her ever" types. With seaweed hair.
- Fluttershy got a nice smug face in the yearbook scene (the "most likely to invent cold fusion" bit).
- Rainbow has some...weird nightmare ideas. "It'll be like we're kissing Bulk Biceps whenever you close the yearbook!" Girl just...don't.
- Trixie is as big a ham as ever.
- Swimsuit episode! For G-rated swimsuits, the designs are suitably...enticing. Of course, fanart is going to (or has already, I haven't been to Derpibooru in ages) take it up to 11.
- Twilight's selfie-drone could be perverted into a horrible perverted weapon of perversion.
- Fluttershy is best seaweed monster.
- Aaaaaand the plot kicks off: Sunset's friendship has been erased from her friends' memories.
- Second time Sunset goes back to Equestria!
- !! IT FINALLY HAPPENED!!
- Every Celestia/Sunset reconciliation fanfic EVER just happened in canon.
- Okay, this whole thing is a love letter to EVERY Sunset Shimmer fanfic writer. Seriously.
- Clover the Clever just became canonically male. Umm...okay.
- Man, the CHS world really IS Equestria's toilet of undesirables! O_o;;
- Didn't expect to see Trixie in a swimsuit in this!
- Trollestia strikes again!
- The volleyball game scene and Spike's fight with the camera was funny.
- Alas, poor camera drone. ;_;
- Everybody thinking Sunset is bad again gets her so angry she starts acting like her old self unintentionally.
- Sunset almost called Trixie a bitch O_o
- Trixie as a red herring villain worked nicely, and interesting turnaround for her helping Sunset.

- It's hard to feel anything but pity for Wallflower Blush. I mean, so many of us have been her, right?
- So we have a green-skinned girl who's invisible, who nobody remembers exists, hmm? Where have we heard that before...?
- I love how they keep lampshading the musical numbers in this special. Nobody EVER gets to finish a song!
- Trixset fuel ignited!
- The gag with the escape trick was hilarious.
- Oh hey, completely new magical girl outfits! Guess DHX was embarrassed by the ones from Everfree. The new ones are SO MUCH BETTER. ESPECIALLY Sunset's.
Okay, that whole entire thing made me super happy. 11/10.

Well, I'm just wondering what the 6 minutes they cut from the television broadcast involved. I would like to hope they involved a bit more time with Sunset and Celestia, but I have the feeling they probably take place more in the human world.

Minor yet interesting detail I noticed: when Sunset finally sees Celestia again there's only one throne in the throneroom, so it's more than likely that this takes place before the movie.

I loved how even Wallflower's song got ignored, that is great commitment to a character trait.
Also yeah Clover is male. That's gotta be a kick to the nuts for some people since everyone has always assumed Clover was female. That said at least it wasn't Starswirl's fault again just.. his... student.... god damn it Starswirl.
I'm sure the second special will be good too but it's gonna be hard to top this story.

Actually it turns out that might not have been true after all.
Nick Apparently tweeted that he didn't notice anything obvious that was cut so it might have been the full version after all.
This was a good special in my opinion. Especially with Sunset and Trixie actually becoming friends. I'm a big fan of the two characters, so Trixie actually being good and not an antagonist or VERY minor character is a great thing in my opinion. And I couldn't help but shout "FINALLY" multiple times when Sunset went to Celestia. That's 2 things from my Sunset list that's been crossed off now, though the first isn't her befriending Trixie, it's her returning to Equestria. That only leaves one more, but I'm afraid that won't happen.
Hope we get to see Human Sunset Shimmer this year! Or Starlight!

I just wonder one thing.
Why sunset? Why target her? There was literally no reason to target her over anyone else, since she was ignored and forgotten by EVERYONE in the school.
Hell, wouldn't it make MORE sense to target the people that was friendly to everyone except her, than the person who was mean to everyone except her? She lost more by being ignored by any other student than ignored by Sunset.
Now that I've had a chance to see it, here's what I personally have to say about it:
I'm not a fan of the first two songs.
The beach scene was adorable until Sunset came on, but that was definitely intentional.
The humor was pretty good overall, especially when they talk about the songs.
The Sunset and Celestia scene was definitely the highlight in terms of emotions.
The library scene was definitely the highlight in terms of the comedy.
Trixie was great as always.
Wallflower's song, was definitely amazing. In fact, it's my new second favorite EQG song, pushing Legend of Everfree's theme into 11th.
Wallflower is definitely among the top 3 EQG villains. Don't know if she's number one, though.
And as for where I'd rank this special among everything else...I'd put it in second place, behind Mirror Magic. As great as the special is overall, seeing Starlight in EQG is just something I doubt will be topped.

well i know i'm outnumbered here but Cannibals and sunset going back all not canon and here is why (again i'm probably the last one who remembers this so yay me) when the first movie (eqg) was announced some fans where not happy in response it was stated that wile mlp would be canon to eqg anything from the human side would not be canon to mlp I will freely admit i can't remember where i heard it (probably a Moliminous video) and mlp did try to fix this disconnect with the hole pillars ark so ya there's my 2 cents take it or don't i know i won't count anything eqg as canon until it's talked about in mlp that said i love all the human stuff and this was a really good one (this was just me placing my foot in mouth as i'm going to bed i have been awake for almost 24 hrs) sorry if this sounded rude at all it was not my intent

I'd say it has to have been at least 3 years but by then Twilight should have really known about Sunset Shimmer before the events of EqG since they would have both been apprentices at the time.
If I were to be really nip picky which I'm about too I'd ask that if Wallflower just made them forgot Sunset's reformation than how is Sunset like not in Jail or something if they hate her. Also couldn't Sunset tell them to check their own phones to see they have pictures of her. They could also perhaps bring in Princess Twilight since they should probably remember her and have her explain everything.
Sci-Twi said she remembers Sunset yelling at her but does she remember what for. It was because she almost killed her friends and yet she doesn't remember that?
Overall I loved the special but the plot holes are what keep it from being perfect.

Because we saw in the first EqG that Sunset was crowned for the fall formal 3 years in a row. I've always assumed that Ponies are regarded as independent in their teenage years so that could be why Sunset and Twilight are teenagers. Sort of like how Spongebob is considered a kid even though he has a house and can support himself. Hell I'm pretty sure Sunset is living on her own in a world where she doesn't exist because she has no birth certificates or a social security number.
