Friendship is Card Games: Trixie and the Razzle-Dazzle Ruse

We return to the pony novels this week, and hopefully a better showing from the titular mare. Last time we saw Trixie in one of these, G. M. Berrow was channeling the fandom circa 2011 and making her and Gilda the designated antagonists of the piece. Let’s see what she’s up to this time.

Friendship is Card Games: Kenbucky Roller Derby #2 & #3

We return to the cutthroat world of G5 roller derby, where Sunny’s trying her darndest to prove she’s more than just a casual skater… and has assembled one of the most ragtag teams of misfits this side of the Mighty Ducks in the process. Let’s see how the story’s developed from there.

No, not mine. The Barcast's. The last call is currently under way, and if you want to hear my part in the grand interview lightning round, you can tune in at 4:20 Eastern/1:20 Pacific (about an hour from this posting.)

Yes, 4:20 on 4/20. No, I do not partake. Sorry to disappoint. :derpytongue2:

    Pest List

Just something I whipped together for fun one day, set to a possibly recognizable tune, all intended in good fun. And hey, given that I derived my Fimfic handle from a misremembered detail of the Mikado, it's only appropriate. :derpytongue2:

Friendship is Card Games: d20 Pony, Ch. 9, Pt. 1

Goodness, it’s been almost two years since I last checked in on Trailblazer’s adventures. IDW putting out comics almost as quickly as I could review them will do that, especially given all of the G5 video media coming out concurrently.

So, if you follow the Transformer comics, you may be aware of the following. If not, well, that's why I'm making this blog. Behold:

So, that appears to be Lyra, Twilight, Moondancer, and... well, not sure on the third one. Still, this presents some interesting question. Most pressingly: Why is Moondancer licking the alien?

“If you can think of a faster way to get a chemical analysis of the thing, I’d like to hear it.”

Twilight squeaked out a few incomprehensible noises before saying, “Litmus Paper’s Concise Chemical Countdown?”

“Don’t think I’ve ever… Oh. Right. Yeah, that was a few hundred books ago. I went with Exotic Cuisine’s Polymorphic Palate Permutation." Moondancer frowned. "Unfortunately, just because I have a dragon’s sense of taste doesn’t mean I actually know how to process what I’m tasting. I’ll have to ask Spike.”

“That thing could be poisonous! Radioactive! Thaumohazardous! Who licks an alien!?”

Moondancer just smirked at Twilight, slowly raising one bushy eyebrow.

Twilight flushed. “I told you that in confidence!”

This may or may not be a story preview.

That's interesting. I wonder why they went with G1 art? They must not have had permission to use G4. It will be fascinating to see where they are going with this. Please keep us posted, Fan.

Apparently, it's part of the denouement of the last issue of the series, all of which was meant to capture the ludicrousness of the Silver Age of comics and the style of Jack Kirby. The entire thing is a work of glorious insanity. At one point, the Earth transforms and punches Primus. (Scroll down a bit from where the link takes you.)

Suffice to say, it's unclear if they'll ever follow up on this.

This is a great example of restraint in storytelling; by leaving it as an implied noodle incident, the reader's imagination augments the humor.

I have just looked through it. That is hilariously nuts. Absolutely barking. Again, thanks :pinkiehappy:

Out of curiosity, any chance that comic has a follow-up, or do they just have a habit of ending with a total mind-screw and leaving it at that?

I claim editing help!

Wait, which Transformers comic is this? Because I've been following the IDW series, and Megatron and Galavtron are two totally separate characters in that series. Furthermore, the Great War has ended, Megatron is now an Autobot, Starscream is the freely elected ruler of Cybertron, Spike Witwicky is a MAJOR asshole, and Optimus Prime has annexed Earth into the Cybertronian Council of Worlds and is currently occupying it in order to protect humanity from themselves AND Galvatron's forces.

See my response to The British Gentleman. This one was deliberately screwy.

4065354
Transformers vs. G.I. Joe #13, also published by IDW, but presumably unrelated to that continuity.

I demand horsewords.

4065358 Okay, checked the link.

I believe, the only reasonable response to this is "LOL WHUT". :pinkiecrazy:

Also, bringing up Transformers/MLP crossover reminds me of this:

And this, which involves Megatron and Poison Joke:

This did come up recently in the Loops.

Well, not the published loops. The Loops thread.

Which you really should rejoin at some point.

I saw the words "Gobot Jesus" in there. What in the fuck?

Also Atlas makes me extremely angry on a geographic level. >:|

Looking at the source comic, it's like IDW spent a day looking at Seanbaby's sites, Mister Kitty's Stupid Comics, Superdickery, and other collections of really horrible comics, and then they said, "That's not so bad. We could make a comic much worse than this, and we have the licenses to make it happen."

Because, my GOD my eyes burn...

Oh gosh that's Bananas. Awesome, but Bananas. This wold be the start of a story either Megatron's redemption, or his return.

This comic is so aggressively retro

I love it

4065422
I know. So horribly disproportionate. It makes Mercator projection Greenland look reasonable. :raritydespair:

Also, I'm pretty sure "Gobot Jesus" is supposed to be Clorox Prime.

Hasbro's extended universe is a joke. D:

That was a glorious pile of derp.

I am so looking forward to whatever you end up doing with this.

I like how the only way we know this isn't meant to be taken seriously is because of the art style rather than the content.

Oh my dear god. XD

This is from the same comic series I got that one OOCSST from, isn't it?

It's canon now, can't take it back. Guess we'll see Megatron in season 7! :derpytongue2:

That is a very strange sort of awesome.

And that story prompt needs to become something more.

Is anyone else now wondering if the Crystal Heart and the Tree of Harmony are made out of pure energon?

4065546
Possibly. Which one did you mean?

4066155
Given how it appears to be blue, raw energon, I hope the no open flames are allowed near either.

4066216 The one with Destro and all the Pat Benatar references.

4066267
Ah. Yup, definitely the same series.

4065358
Ah, that would explain it.

Though coincidentally, the version of Megatron in the IDW continuity I've been following does learn the value of friendship and compassion in between wacky adventures and time-travel shenanigans on the spaceship he co-captains with Rodimus (formerly Hot Rod) and a crew of lonely, somewhat crazy second-stringer Autobots (including Whirl the psychotic ex-Wrecker, Rung the psychiatrist with an alt-mode of unknown function, Ultra Magnus the secretly a little guy in a big suit of armor, and Nightbeat the Sherlock-expy), plus Ravage the talking cat and Cyclonus the ancient warrior who's gay for a tiny 'bot with a big heart (their "will they or won't they" romance is one of the emotional highlights of the MTMTE series).

4065327 And here I thought I was the only one who tried to make Flashlight work.

"Who licks an alien!?" is a great line because it would be normal-funny even if it ended in something boring, but ending in "an alien" doubles the fun. Notice how much less funny it would be if there were more words after "alien", like "Who licks an alien who looks like a rock!?"

4086649
Praise from Bad Horse. Well, there's my moral uncertainty for the day.

(Seriously though, thanks. Currently fleshing out the story skeleton.)

Spotted. I shall read it this evening

Now that I look at htat picture more intently, that's a freaking weird rainbow.
