Postscript to Just Girls Talking About Pizza... · 3:45pm Feb 6th, 2016

This didn't really fit as an author's note, so I'll just post it here.

A chapter entirely about the wide, wonderous world of choice and variety that is pizza isn't complete without the author sharing his personal preference.

First of all, I'm a big fan of Pizza Hut. They won me back with their free sauce drizzles and crust edge flavors plus their plethora of deals, specials, and coupons.

My personal preference, and what I tend to get if I use Pizza Hut's $11 Any online deal:

Large pan (or stuffed crust if I'm in the mood for it and feel like paying the extra $2), regular marinara, regular cheese, pepperoni, ham, black olives, red onions, green bell peppers, Balsamic sauce drizzle, ranch crust edge flavor.

(Sometimes I get sausage, salami, or bacon instead of the green peppers.)

You're making me hungry!

It's 8:15 AM where I am and I can't wait for dinner!

3736604 That sounds like Taco Bell's doubledecker taco/chalupa in pizza form.

I enjoy Papa Murphys Chicken Bacon Ranch pizza.

I make my own. Getting the crust right is the hardest part!

I tend to go with Papa John's; large original crust, sausage and mushrooms. Alteratively, Donato's flat crust with the same toppings.

I frankly liked Pizza Hut's Big New Yorker, wish they did more with that.

3736693 I used to "like" PJs when it was the only place that delivered to my old apartment. Now that I have the option of ordering from Pizza Hut, thinking back to PJ's awful crust just makes me cringe.

Their cheesesticks are still the best, though. So are their Apple Pie and Cinnapie.

Ever since I was young I've always chosen kebab. Never changed.

Funny to read something about pizza today. Because Wednesday is my birthday, and we're having pizza (one with bacon and olives, one with pineapple) and milkshakes. Not interested in a cake, though.

3736714 I'm pretty much the opposite. I swore off Pizza Hut because I didn't like the aftertaste.

I eat pretty much any pizza. Pizza Hut stuffed crust is by far my favorite, everything else is on equal footing.
Oddly enough, I REALLY love Chuck E Cheese pizza. But sadly as an adult I never have an excuse to go. :ajsleepy:
There is one pizza brand I get tired of and really don't like, and that's Little Caesars. Everyone I know always gets that stuff, and the crust is meh, followed by meh taste. I mean the middle/pizza part is average with the rest, but the crust is blarg. And I love crusts. :raritydespair:

Awesome Tier: Pizza Hut
Weirdly delicious tier: Chuck E. Cheese
Pretty average tier: Everything else
Ugh-but-i-get-forced-to-eat-it-anyway tier: Little Caesars

My dad makes pizza every Saturday. It's actually gotten to the point where I don't even like it any more. The sauce is much richer than the ones from pizza hut or dominos, so it's easier to get sick from eating a lot, and the crust is usually very thin and crunchy, so I never eat that part.
Don't get me wrong, I'll still eat it, but if I get a choice between his pizza and something from a pizzeria? I'll go with the pizzeria.

3737107 In my experience, the only reason one gets tired of pizza is there's something wrong with the pizza.

Because good pizza, you never get tired of.

3737118 Imagine eating a rich Syrup Sponge Pudding, all on your own. Now imagine doing that every single day for a year.
You'd get a bit sick of it after a while, wouldn't you?

Ham, bacon, extra cheese, stuffed crust pizza from pizza hut.

3737132 I have no idea what that is, but I do sort of take your point.

If I'm going to eat corporate pizza then my goto is Domino's thin and crispy crust with extra cheese and tons of onion.

3737441 I can't stand Domino's anymore. For a long time they were all I could get, and I got so sick of them I could scream. Plus, I've taken exception to the hypocrisy of their recent ad campaigns--their emphasis on "we're not just pizza", immediately followed by political-style mudslinging campaigns bashing Pizza Hut for their new flavor menu offerings and claiming it's "gimmicky" and that they're taking PH "back to pizza school".

It's the kind of hypocrisy I just can't abide. That plus preferring Pizza Hut by leaps and bounds equals Domino's isn't getting a cent from me ever again.

I am cheap, so I will get Cheap Pizza. Little Caesars $5 hot-and-ready.

Plus the fact they would feed this to us in band in the most ridiculous quantity you could think of made it grow on me.

3737603 I do love Little Caesar's. I don't love that Little Caesar's dropped delivery. Carryout-only is NOT an option for me. Therefore, I rarely ever have an opportunity to eat it anymore.

Shame, because their Crazy Bread is awesome.

Shame, because their Crazy Bread is awesome

This is true. I understand where you are coming from though.

Worst chain pizza for me is Papa Johns. Just terrible

3737664 Yeah, I'm not much of a fan of Papa John's pizza itself. The cheesesticks and dessert pizzas are amazing, but regular pizzas, the crust is lackluster and the cheese is too rubbery and the toppings are meh. Still, now that I have access to Pizza Hut, that's all I ever order. (And for frozen, it's Tony's, Red Baron, or DiGiorno.)

3736604 I gotta check if this have that in goood ole canda eh

I've never really liked pizza.

3738773 That's okay. Pizza never really liked you either. :ajsmug:

Pizza Hut had me hooked on the free sauce drizzles, but when they had the Honey Siracha drizzle, I became an addict. Now when I get Pizza Hut for anyone, I be sure to get a Thin 'n Crispy pizza with red onions, ham, and banana peppers with honey Siracha sauce, drizzle, and crust flavoring. Then add on a Mountain Dew to wash it all down.

Pizza varies with country, too, of course. Common toppings here include tasty things like Catupiry cheese and nasty things like heart of palm.
And for the same prize of a large pizza of a pizzeria, my brother in law sells this heart attack.

On the subject of pizza:

- I don't usually get it from chain places. I get it from one of a couple of local restaurants.
- Usual topping preference: mushroom, black olive and extra cheese. I've also enjoyed eggplant and mushroom.
- White pizza (made without tomato sauce) preferences: pepperoni and mushroom, or spinach and tomato slices.
- Really, about the only topping I'm guaranteed to pass on is anchovies. (I'm not much of a meat on pizza person in general - I make an exception for the white/pepperoni/mushroom combo because it's what my mom likes.)

Until next time...

End of the day, it's pretty impossible to beat home made. That said, I like the way Hungry Howie's tops theirs if I order out. They're not nearly as stingy with the meat as some places.
