Like I said before, 95% of the time I use fimfiction through my iPhone. I only use the desktop when I update stories. I rarely use a desktop ever. I don't like it. I enjoy browsing through my mobile device for everything, from news articles to YouTube to manga to fiction to porn. Always on my phone. It's just much more easily available.
I dislike sitting at a computer and using the Internet. It's also a slower experience than my phone.
Until this new mobile format came out. Not only am I forced to have to deal with such an ugly format, but I'm also balls to the wall frustrated whenever I try to use it.
Here are few of my major complaints:
-Very, very, very slow. Pics, links and spacing now take an excruciatingly lengthy amount of time to load.
- The horrid spacing. Now my phone cannot even register where something should be. There are even links hidden behind other links, so I at times don't even have acces to them.
- The home page. It's so....ugly. Oh, man. It's just a mass of text now. Not user friendly. I gag everytime I enter it. Where is the featured box?
- I get no more notifications on when a favorited story gets updated. I now just get a star. Or when I do get a notification, it ends up on some link I don't want to even bother with, since the whole thing looks so ugly and convoluted.
- Going onto anyone's page (including mine) is like entering the twilight zone on acid. Everything's stretched out into an abstract painting. Little to no organization.
So there you go. You all wanted more explanation, so I gave it to you.
Browsing fimfiction has now become a meddlesome chore, no longer a pleasure. Can you understand how I feel? It's disheartening that what was one of my favorite sites has become tarnished and dirtied. I am so turned off by the new mobile format, my desire to read on this site has ceased.
I don't want to use the desktop. I don't want to have to deal with such inconvenience on my mobile phone.
I need a desktop option. Then I'll return.
I know I'm leaving you all hanging, but in all truth I'm not having fun on this site anymore as a result of this update.
I got banned, twice. And I was fine with it.
Two of my stories have been removed. And I was fine with it.
I was denied the opportunity to notify my favorited fans on my first account of my second account's existence. And I was fine with it.
I've always been so warm and forgiving. But changing so much on this site is the last straw.
I don't like fanfiction.net/deviantart on the
Mobile device either. Fimfiction was the only ponyfiction site I really enjoyed.
No updates. Yeah, I'm probably being an asshole, but the site's being a bigger asshole to me. And I'm not taking it any longer.
Thanks for the fun times! :) Hopefully this site will be fixed up soon. I need that desktop option. (I don't like Google Chrome, by the way.)

I totally agree with you, the site is horrible on the IPhone. But hopefully knightly is aware of this and is probably working on that, so it will be a matter of time before the phones site will look like the desktops.

Same. I don't enjoy using the system they use for notifications, I liked it better when you could actually TELL what's what. Now it's all bunched up, and as a result, I have no idea what stories have been updated, which means I can't read as much! I wish they would revert back, or at least allow a preview of the site, and then use it or don't based on user feedback, kinda like steams beta participant thing.
I don't have a mobile device, so I don't know what it's like for you, but if it's bad for the desktop, I can only imagine what it's like for mobile users.

Tis a real shame. Trying hard not to cry man, your RainbowSpike story was one of the best I have ever read. But to be honest I agree with the formatting. Why fix something that wasn't broken?
we need the old set up back. the back ground was good but now i cant even see it anymore (might be just me). using phone takes forever. using computer is no because i'm on the move from time to time. takes longer to load with new set up. sorry if i was bitching or it sounded like i was. need the old set up much for easier to use even tho i'm used to this set up.

Please don't leave forever. Knightly (or whoever works on this sites layout) seems to constantly try to optimize this site. Right now, phones seem to suffer from his changes but I'm sure the next version will be more forgiving towards them.
Lol I like this because it mostly just says I want it my way or the highway. Doesn't seem a bit selfish at all to think you should have the ability to expect everything to go your way regardless of why or how. But Whatever, you chose what you want I suppose.
Well, I'll hold off on 'unwatching' your stories for now, just in case the 900 something followers of yours annoy the crap out of knighty enough to make him fix the mobile version and you come back.
In the unlikely event of knighty making the site better I'll just move on and forget this ever happened.
Otherwise, thanks for the good times man. Your stories were well written and dammit, Spike needed more well written stories. It's a shame I won't see the end of them, but good luck with future endeavours.

If something is broken you don't use it or don't do the things associated with it, most often because you can't but in some cases because the alternative ways of doing it are horrible to you. I don't use the grill on the oven to make toast when the toaster is broken because it costs a butt-ton more electricity and he doesn't use the desktop for browsing fimfiction because it's annoying/uncomfortable/plain unenjoyable to him.
That's the case here. It's not a matter of 'my way or the highway', it's a matter of personal choice. He doesn't like the new mobile format so he's leaving the site. He was just informing his fans of the reasons why.

I understand that plenty well trust me. I never said that he had to use the things he hates; I said complaining about it and saying that he won't use it because he expected it to be better because he wants it is a tad selfish to say. Especially since some people expect knighty to be a god at website design when he just does what he can That's all I am saying. Also, if this is going to turn into a debate I'd rather not spam his blog like mad. lol I'd imagine he wouldn't like seeing it in the first place.
It's a real shame. You're stories were amazing and it sucks to see you go. I do have to agree with you that the new layout is fucking terrible.

i miss the older format that fim had when i first joined, it was sooo phone friendly (when i still had my i phone), i was also able to use it on my Nintendo 3DS, that there was chill. instead of playing games i sat there reading Spike's Rainbow Dash.
Meh to each their own. I personally can't stand touch screens with tiny buttons and a tinier viewing screen. I love my laptop hooked up to a 36" TV and a wireless keyboard. I see no convenience of mobile device updating or story publishing not when i can play games off Steam and update fics at the same time. These touch screens weren't made for giant hands.
As for the mobile version of this site, i don't have have any problems the site on the android platform.

but i know why that is , well actually i could come up with a lot of reasons , but one specifically relevant to this right here is that when yt fucked our shit up , yt users didn't go 'well yt's being as ass to me so im going to be an ass to my subscribers' , instead what we did was collectively complain about it while still continuing to upload important content and the stuff we wanted to share , because im pretty sure that's what got us all here in the first place , not the fact that there was a pretty looking site on the interwebs.......

- I have yet to review your stories, as I want too, but given how much grief you have been through, I'm not surprised that, sooner or later, your patience will simply run out....Nobody wants you to leave, and it's unfair how you seem to be a magnet for problems, but it can't be helped if you feel enough is enough: you can't pretend to have infinite patience when you simply don't, and really, you can't be expected too nor really should.
As before, nobody wants you to leave, and hopefully if the site is better optimized for mobiles, you'll return, but if you're leaving indefinitely until that time comes...well....I guess all I can say, is that I wish you all the best and hope, more so than to continue your writing (and I say that broadly, not just for ponies), that you keep up the same optimism and care-free attitude that you always seemed to have here

Your the only brony that makes a great Spike ship, none of the others can hold a match to your literary awesomeness, and while I haven't been a fan long; I do eagerly await your next works (mostly Spike's Vinyl scratch [most of the ships at the port are mane6]). I can understand the frustration (not as well as you mind you) but I fell that giving up would only hurt us your fans and not prove a point to the retarded ass admin that made the changes.
