This story is a sequel to An Empress' Wish.

Chains and bars are what hold a prisoner from escaping physically. Mentality and reflection are what holds a prisoner from escaping emotionally. Once a prisoner to chains, whether of mind or body, you are a prisoner by all names.

The only consolation of being imprisoned is that you are alone with your thoughts. Thoughts of what went wrong and how you found yourself where you are.

Princess Luna looks beyond her airs, her masks, and her own sense of being to view the woman in the mirror. A her long past, yet one that is the she that she has come to know best. A vale of lies and a cloak of shame cascade between she and herself; one that only with four hands together can be removed to see reality. A stark reality that stabs at the heart.
