Although some creative criticism on this... I think it might have done you better were they human in the first place.

The story is alright. No glaring mistakes popping out at me. You really need to work on your pacing. Slow it down a little, it's a bit hard to keep up.
Other than that, like I said, no glaring mistakes. I can certainly see this story becoming something quite good.
