The Poor Hindentanic, Also What Timing.
So he finally figures out how to move things without the movement being drastically overcompensated, awesome.
Now give us some real chapters, dude. I'm bored here as I'm sure everyone else is.
Wait a minute... I read this fic 2 years ago and it's still going strong? Dayum son you slow.
Short chapter is better than no chapter.
*sigh*
We had a car like that once. It was nothing but a leach on our very souls. No matter how much time, effort, or money we'd put into it the dam thing would always find some new way to brake down.
This is totally well below what I was expecting. He's basically just going to punch her with magic, I mean come on. I expected him to attack using a hellfire filled pressure ball or just regular fireballs. Basically a versatile armorment of battle magic. Possibly levitating several swords to attack with while he's blasting Celestial.
Honestly if Griffin wins than Celestial is truly pathetic.
That was fun, may I have another? Looking forward to more.
Keep up the good work. Deus tecum.
6410953 If that is the case then It's even more weak sauce seeing as griffin is fighting Celestia under the impression that she is a god (small g intended) after outright saying to her face that it's his intent to kill her.
Given that, you would think that he would go straight for the heavy physics trickery pudo-life hacks that would automatically render any mere moral into a fine slush.
-trying to kill her through pressure differentials in the air. (like creating a shield around her and setting off some kind of explosive inside it, or super heating / cooling the air around her or just removing all the oxygen from it to the point of trying to create a complete vacuum around her head.
-Trying to create force fields inside her body.
-Using the aqua spell to try and boil / rip out all the blood in her brain out through her eyes.
6410953 This is why he's going to get rofl stomped. He may have a lot of power, but with limited application. And zero defense.
6411120 He can't really do any of that anymore. He has so little control it would be like trying to force the power of a firetruck's pumps through a garden hose. And he knows this. And of the fancy stuff (like shields, as an example) will just blow up in his face.
6411123 So cast the spells on Celestia. Given his power and lack of control, casting something like a healing spell on her should have some interesting effects.
The whole point of this fight is to see if Celestia really is the god that her ponies think she is, and if what you said is the case, Griffin is making a dumb mistake by having this fight before he's ready for it. If he looses, it won't prove anything about Celestia being a god, just that griffin was not ready to properly test the assertion that she is one. And that would be very annoying as I want to see Celestia get what she deserves for all the shit she's put him through.
Griffin has so little control currently over his magic, at such a level, that if he tried casting a healing spell on Celestia, he would most likely turn her into Deadpool.
Poor MrFixit. I wonder if he will add extra gull wings and call it the Great DeLohindustanistern. If two ill fated names will lead to disaster, then surely four ill fated names wiil make things Alll better.
how fucked was the thing to for the repairs to take two years?
6411453 Very.
6411137 Well, back when this "arc" first stated, he found out that all his old spells just won't work because he can't control the amount of power he puts into them. If he had years to refine and control that power, he could most likely win, but he's rushing headlong towards someone who has had over a millennium to hone their spell craft.
He may (and this is ambiguous at this point) have more power, but has had months to practice using it effectively, with all the distractions of life in the way. She has had centuries with nothing but spare time to learn to heft the power that comes from being the living embodiment of a gargantuan ball of fusion.
To wit, it doesn't matter how large the gun is if you can't use it well.
6411550 Based on what I can remember from the show, Celestia would, as a bare minimum, have the combined magic of all the unicorns from the time of the three tribes. But, given the problem with food at the time, and the fact that 'as spike said' most unicorns have only a little magic based around their talents, and given how the cutie pox seemed to make random talents manifest in applebloom (like the ability to speak french) I have to wonder if it's the case that Celestia can only move the sun because it's her special talent rather then it being her special talent because he has the sheer raw power to move it. (power that she could channel into other spells).
Personally I'd guess its the former. Rather then being some magical powerhouse, her cutiemark is what lets her use her magic to greatest effect in the narrow parameter that is her talent. Kind of like a magnifying glass that works in only one spectrum if you want a very loose metaphor.
In other words. My guess is that Celestia is a one trick pony and she has little relative power beyond her namesake ability.
6411695 That's conjecture at best. Even if that is accurate, then skill still easily bests uncontrolled power.
6411841 Yes it is conjecture, which is why I used the word 'guess'. And like I said earlier. I'm more inclined to lean that way because I wan't to see Celestia get whats coming to her.
Tell that to the Hulk...
No matter how much skill an ant has, it's unlikely to beat an Elephant, let alone do so 'easily'.
6411861 What if the ant hides away on the elephant's skin, climbs his way to the elephant's ear, into its brain, then starts digging?
The elephant wouldn't even be able to see the ant before it dies of haemorrhaging.
I undoubtedly agree with 6411841 when he says that skill beats raw power.
For instance, griffin uses up all his power on fighting Celestia, tossing her around like a rag doll, toppling over buildings, destroying mountains with the sheer force of her impacts.
Only then for the real Celestia to de-cloak, destroying the decoy he used all his power on, and simply pushing him over.
Intelligence, cunning, and skill, always, always beats raw power.
6411969 Fact is, both are wrong. An intelligent, skilled opponent can beat a more powerful one, but there is a certain degree of raw force that simply cannot be overcome with wit. That being said, Griffin doesn't have that level of force. Also, the ant analogy is flawed. Whenever ants encounter an issue, literally their only recourse is 'throw more ants at it'. Brute force is the ant's ONLY strategy.
Need to cross a stream? Keep sending ants. Eventually, the corpses of those that died will make a bridge.
Also, again, Griffin's magic may be hulk, but he HIMSELF is still the clever person he was before. The idea is that magic isn't the only factor.
As for Celestia having 'nothing but free time to hone the awesome cosmic power at her control'. Yes, she's had all the time in the world to do so, yet she has not. That's part of the reason for this fight in the first place
Griffin on the other hand has been training and fighting non stop from the moment he set foot in that world. He has experience fighting numerous, vastly different enemies, while Celestia hasn't seen combat in 900 years, if you exclude the magic beam fight she had with Chrysalis, in which she got completely fried. Lets not forget, a glaring weakness is that she can't use an ounce of that cosmic power if her horn is disturbed. She was helpless against the Smooze at the gala once she got that gunk on her horn.
6411969 Except in the many instances where it doesn't. It's funny that such examples of skill overcoming power always rely on added quantifiers like 'the elephant doesn't know the ant is there'. But lets give you that for the sake of argument. That is only one outcome where the ant beats the Elephant, while the Elephant has many, many more options when dealing with the ant.
And at the end of they day, the whole point of this fight is testing weather Celestia has raw power, not her skill. If Griffin has more power then her and the relative skill of the two becomes the deciding factor then the fight need not happen at all because that very fact proves that Celestia is not the god that her ponies think she is...or griffin is one as well by rule of relativism, and all he need do is develop the skill.
In which case - Fighting things that are trying to kill you > practicing in your free time during a thousand years of peace.
6412001 This is just adding more layers onto the 'why I can't see Celestia winning this fight.' cake.
6412076 I'd say a person who has more than "smash it with brute force" in their abilities is a safer bet. It is also time for birdy to get taken down a peg, judging by how the story has been written so far.
6412188 I disagree. Like I've said many times, If anyone needs to be taken down a peg it's Celestia.
Better Fixit than that other guy, at least he seems to know and actually care about what he's doing....
They built the ship Hindentanic to sail across the sky,
but every time they tried it blew up by and by!
and since griffin is involved the problem won't be solved.
It was sad when the great ship went down.
The Hindentanic wasn't meant to fail as some might believe. It was meant to fail twice, just like the name suggested.

Honestly, this comment makes more sense than anything. The other two idiots are too busy imitating Griffin habit of over thinking to actually shut up and enjoy the story.
