You make it sound like Celestia and Luna are dead here. Did I miss something? Also, Twilight seems to be ignoring the fact that she raises the sun and moon every day and night. Not as long as Celestia and Luna did. But she's slowly catching up.

A very understandable confusion.
In this story, for all intents and purposes, they are not with Twilight physically. More specifically, I had this idea in my head of the two sisters ascending to become the sun and moon themselves, removing the need to magically raise and lower them.

Twilight did the right thing. Breaking up a relationship is not OK. As much as it hurts her, doing the opposite would have hurt others more.
